Nuts. No wonder I'm getting bad gas mileage with E10. It's also marginally slower 'coz I can't hit 185km/h with E10. Top speed is around 179km/h. Good thing I managed to do 185km/h again with XCS.

    Wala na ba yung Vortex?
Vortex po ata is the 'brand name' included with Gold(premium) or Silver(unleaded), ie. "Vortex Gold"? Ngayon po di na po ata ginagamit yung 'vortex', Caltex with Techron na in "Gold" and "Silver" (and diesel also). sa caltex website.. for other countries meron "Platinum" equivalent to blaze and v-power. unfortunately wala pa po dito sa pinas. hope this helps.

US 87 is roughly equivalent to 92-93 RON in the Philippines. Hindi RON ang gamit ng US... AKI yung rating system nila.

Ang Equivalent sa 95 RON dito is between 89-92 AKI doon... but there's no exact conversion. Two different gasolines can both have 95 RON, but in terms of AKI, one can be 92 and one 89. That's why there was a big difference in performance between V-Power and Blaze before, even if Blaze had a higher RON rating, V-Power felt like it had better AKI... and made more power on the dyno.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

we don't really want to avoid e10 products. is just that its not yet Philippine market ready/compatible. its not yet as good as pure gasoline. maybe.

sino ba naman ang ayaw mabawasan ang polusyon sa Pinas? ayt?

Share ko lang ito: Cars running on ethanol can pollute too: Brazil study

RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) – Cars running on sugarcane ethanol can produce as many harmful pollutants as those using ordinary petrol (gasoline), according a study published by Brazil's environment ministry.

But the report on the emissions of the cars on Brazil's roads does not count carbon dioxide emissions.

"We want to make sure that customers are aware of pollutant emissions" when they buy a car, Environment Minister Carlos Minc said Tuesday on delivering the report.

The study ranked emissions based of a scale of "green grades" that measured three pollutant gases that do not produce climate change but do affect the health of a country's population: carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide.

The green grade scale, ranging from 0-10, does not count carbon emissions, which are the main driver of global warming, because emissions from burning ethanol are offset by the carbon dioxide that sugar cane absorbs as it grows, the study said.

The research also examined 250 so-called "flex-fuel" cars, which use both ethanol and petrol and constitute about 85 percent of all cars on the road in Brazil.

Among those receiving the lowest scores, eight were cars running on ethanol, including several with "flex" engines, the study said, though all of the models examined met Brazil's standards for maximum emissions levels in 2008.

Environmental group Greenpeace welcomed the report, but an official with the group's climate change campaign in Brazil, Joao Talochhi, told Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper that "when it comes to public health, the Brazilian government should invest in non-polluting vehicle technology."

Sabi nga ng friend ko after informing him with the results of my test on using E10, "E10 just eaten the copper" . Carburetor jets are made of copper alloy like brass or bronze, these are soft metals.
+1. Compared to gasoline na nagseseparate ang water.

I've read, and I quite agree, that biofuels just transfer the advesre environmental impact of using fuels from one place to another.

In defense of bio-fuels, it is not really that bad by itself. The problem is the quantities needed for commercial production that creates the "evil".

Just use up the tank of Shell Premium down to near to empty as you would dare and fill up with Petron XCS on your next full tank.

You don't have to mix gasoline types to minimize the effects of E10.

Will do. thanks! That also means cancelling my Citibank Shell card and get a BPI Petron card or HSBC for 5% Caltex fuel rebate

BTW, I am assuming you do use up a tank of gasoline every week. Am I correct?

true. i used to fill up at shell stations almost all the time before because of the citibank rebate. now im worried about the corrosion thingy that my engine might have accumulated because of the e10.

when I cancelled my citibank card, there is no way to get the rebates afterwards. Better collec t first your rebates before cancelling the card.
also ever since shell came up with E10 on all their gasoline, I have switched to Petron XCS for my fuel needs. better be safe than sorry. for all my other needs like lubricants, I still prefer shell products.

E10 Ethanol, bad for your engine & economy? [MERGED]
