    Dear DevilDoc:

You recommend that we bring a 3 to 4 liter plastic container for the water-methanol mix. I noticed that the gallon tank container of engine oil is about that size.

Is it ok to use that? I will of course wash out all the remaining oil.

    Best Regards,

    dusky lim

That is what the whole thing is all about, You don't have to buy anything to show up, But Media, and buyers of the kits have first shot at the food at lunch.

We have handouts for you and a powerpoint presentation to go over so you fully understand how everything works.

*duskylim , yes you can use that tank as long as you clean it out.

Damnit.... won't be able to go! Forgot I was supposed to attend a wedding in Cavite. I might make it back in the afternoon... just asked Ferman to hold my kits for me...

I really wanted to see how it would go with my naturally aspirated build... Will still try to send one Crosswind for testing.

    Dear Fellow Tsikoteers,

Let me be the first to say that it was a great meet. Got my kit and got to view several cool installations and tests.

Got fed great food and got to check out SpeedLab, (btw great set up, completely professional), congrats to Ferman and Bilal. (We should do it again soon - but next time with beer on the menu, not cheap gin - he, he, he!).

Last but not least, got to meet more of my fellow Tsikot enthusiasts.

Guys please post your results on the forum as I believe it will be of benefit to us all to share our experiences. I will be doing the same.

Now a few questions for DevilDoc:

Sir, I will first review each item and its electrical connections then its mechanical plumbing.

    A) The MAF sensor:

    i) Please confirm that it is a Ford product (there are no brand markings or specs on the part) and that it takes 12 volts DC at the RED wire, and NOT 5 volts DC from the controller's GREY wire.

ii) The BLACK wire is the ground wire, (naturally) and

iii) The GREEN wire gives the signal and connects to the GREEN wire of the controller.

iv) Location: the MAF sensor should be installed with the arrow in the direction of airflow BEFORE the water injection nozzle, centered in a straight section of intake piping.

    B) the Controller:

    i) the RED wire connects to an ignition switch controlled 12 volt supply (naturally), I intend to use a relay and terminal block to supply power AND grounding to the entire water injection system.

ii) the BLACK wire connects to the ground (of course),

iii) the GREEN wire gets the signal from the MAF sensor,

iv) the BLUE wire connects through the fuse to the pump's RED wire, (you know, the wires from the controller are pretty skinny especially when you compare them to the pump's wires).

    v) the GREY wire (yup I must be going blind, its actually dirty grey and not green like I first thought) is NOT USED.

    C) the PUMP:

    i) the RED wire connects to the controllers BLUE wire through the supplied fuse (note: the fuse is not indicated on the instructions diagram).

ii) the BLACK wire connects to the ground.

    D) PLUMBING:

    i) dab all holes drilled and the metal bonded washers (on the rubber side) with silicone sealant.

ii) best place for pump location is immediately below the water alcohol tank,

iii) how far away should the nozzle be from the MAF sensor?

iv) several guys were worried about the nozzle being placed before the crankcase breather hose - but since I have a Naturally Aspirated system, I expect that the engines' suction will pull everything along, without any water or alcohol going into my crankcase - is that right?

    v) I'm having an extended Nozzle Holder fabricated (similar design but 1"x1" in size).

Why? - Because I don't want to spray directly across the intake pipe onto the opposite surface and get wetting.

With an extended Nozzle Holder, I can put the nozzle directly into the CENTER of the inlet airstream and spray in the SAME direction as the airflow as opposed to perpendicular to it.

This way there is greater chance of all the droplets being carried along by the airstream and much less chance of wetting and dribbling to due spray collision with a surface.

Locking will be performed by tightening the nozzle holder to the check valve, instead of the between the nozzle holder and nozzle itself.

Am copyrighting the extended nozzle idea.

DevilDoc, will show the results to Ferman, and hopefully post pictures when its done. You could have such holder fabricated in a variety of sizes to match various manifold sizes and diameters. PM me for more.

Will continue to update as the installation proceeds.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Dusky Lim

Once again a great event, And we proved without a shadow of a doubt of how well the system works. The Fortuner, Hilux, MPV, we all monsters of Torque on the road.

Here is the actuall numbers from the Hilux, The thing could not be dyno tested fully with the 4gph nozzle at the lower rpms because the power increase was to high and it would down shift. This vehicle used a none progressive kit you can see from the dyno it was getting a bit to much injection up top, The addition of a progressive controller would solve this issue because he could fine tune the volume injected.

Changing the Nozzle to a 3gph will still give monster power without the over fueling with the larger nozzle. The gains are solid and steady throught the RPM band, Just to back we could not read the lower rpms on the dyno, The Hilux looked like it wanted to break free a fee time when we switched to the 4gph nozzle and 50/50 methanol.

    Horse power
RPMS STOCK 2GPH GAIN 4GPH GAIN
    2000 121.9 145.1 23.2
    2500 131.8 157.3 25.5 187.8 56
    3000 142.1 167.3 25.2 167.1 21
    3500 146 171.2 25.2 157 11
    4000 125.2 155.1 29.9 153.3 28.1

    Torque
RPMS STOCK 2GPH GAIN 4GPH GAIN
    2000 320.1 381.0 61
    2500 276 330.5 54.5
    3000 248.8 292.9 44.1 328.8 80
    3500 219.1 256.9 37.8 250.7 31.6
    4000 164.4 203.6 39.2 201.3 36.9

Bottom line the vehicle easily pushed over 200hp with the 4gph nozzle and more than 400lbs of tq Thats 542nm in case you wanted converted even with the 2gph nozzle it made 381lbs of TQ or 518nm. If you can bet that for 15000P installed I would like to see it.

When we took the vehicles out on the street they were impressively more powerful, We also dis a Kia Sorento, to that thing out for a drive with 4 people in it, Aircon on full blast and it was breaking the tires loose in 2nd gear.

    dvldoc,

I checked the installation on the mpv and found some minor problems. First the nozzle on the rubber intake tube was loose so some juice was coming out. Remember you took out the washer on the nozzle because the rubber hose was to thick? What i did was to put a washer back and it solved the problem. Second problem was there was still a leak on the fitting on the pump. I added some more teflon tape and the leak was completely gone.

I made a road test and finally felt the extra power i didn't quite feel when i drove the mpv with you. Another thing, i activated the EGR again and the black smoke that's usually visible is about 90-95% gone. I'll test it tomorrow on the expressway and i'll update you with the results.

Thanks again for the install and hope to see you again when you come back.

    Duskylim,

Thanks for giving me your slot. I wouldn't have been able to DIY it. I would have had problems with the electrical part.

    4JGTootsie,

Thanks also for locating the ignition wire. It was a big help. Another thanks for the methanol. It would probably last me a week or two.

With all the distractions it was hard to concentrate on one vehicle, At least everything is all set up now. I felt the difference because I know how it sounds when kit come on. It's change in pitch on the engine and you can feel the TQ come on quickly. Traffic was still a bit heavy to really test safely, Thought we were going to die in the Fortuner lol,

Like I told you the vehicle would only get faster as the system cleaned out your engine. It should be very impressive on the expressway.

There is nobody that day that left disappointed with there power gains, Especially the Kia, Hilux and Fortuner. Dang those things gained a ton of power, The Hilux gain well over 65hp in the lower rpms. I'm sure the Fortuner with his additional mods will have gained even more.

Great event! Congrats to Speedlab (its leadership and staff) as well as Dvldoc for a very successful product demo!

I very much agree with Dvldoc, that without a doubt, the kit/system really works!

And true enough, early birds do get the good stuff! 'Got my kit after having been in the wait list 'til about lunch time.

I'm sure Speedlab's flooded with phone calls for orders!

    I have nothing but:
