The Vitara's beauty comes from the fact that it was designed without regard much for beauty. Sort of like the beauty that an M16 rifle or an F14 Tomcat exudes. It's an acquired taste. If you can't appreciate it's mechanical/technical side and the fact that it can do things you never though were possible with a compact sport ute, then its probably not for you.

On a side note, do Sentra shocks really cost Php14k for a set of 4? One of our friends from the other board asked me earlier today.
as for the exalta, we asked around yesterday. OEM shocks cost 3.1k each.
which siguro will reach 14k if w/ labor.

from what i noticed if kukuha lang rin daw ng mini car, my kuya ang dad's vote would be on the chevy na.. since they dont trust korean cars..

490k ang chevy spark. bkt kaya sa tingin nyo ang mahal nya for a 1.0 super mini to the maxx? naturn off parents ko nung nakita nla yung spark kasi nakakatakot daw kc maliit masyado yung gulong? LOL i dunno if that made sense or what...

550 ang aveo. right for the price ba?

i dont know if other makes offer it, pero dba chevrolet has the longes PMS/Warranty service? and i heard sila lang nagooffer ng 24-hour roadside assistance? i like that. lols

yes 24-hour roadside assistance. nasubukan namin yan with our chevy before. maganda ang service ng CASA ng chevy, C5 branch. but ok din ang Hyundai, particularly sa C5 din. 3 years din warranty ng Hyundai like Chevy.

if you'll get a chevy, I would suggest mag-aveo ka na lang. the spark is not worth it. ang body niya para katulad nun mga norkis na mini-car/pickup. this car can really kill you s pag side impact sa tingin ko.

If your dad doesn't trust Korean, bakit kayo bibili ng Chevy? Diba Daewoo yung mga binebenta nila? Tignan mo lahat ng piyesa ng Optra/Aveo/Spark may logo ng Daewoo (yung parang buntot ng pabo).

Mahal sila because Filipinos are willing to pay extra for the Chevy 'bowtie' badge since it is also associated with expensive vehicles like the Suburban, Tahoe, Venture, etc.

Btw, I have nothing against Chevy selling rebadged Daewoos (ganun talaga, even Honda sold rebadged Isuzus and vice versa). Pero sana naman, presyong tapat.

How about yung "Smart" brand?

I think it also has to do with the mentality that whatever is from the US (branded with US names like Chevy, GM, Ford, etc) is of superior quality. We all know that Optra is a rebadged Daewoo. So basically, you're paying for the brandname. I mean sa w123 lang and I know Doc Otep can relate. The boys there love to switch to US headlights pero sa amin here in the US, yung US headlights lalo na yung sealed beam ay pinapalitan ng Euro. It's just a matter of preference. So going back to the Optra, if you were here in the US magsasawa ka sa mga Chevy, Ford, GM, Dodge, etc.

I also hate the gargantuan U.S. bumpers. Kahit sabihin pang 5mph bumper siya, it makes the car look bottom heavy, parang hindi balanced in some angles.

You know that some people here will reply with subjective comments like "maganda yung interior ng Getz" pero for you baka di mo trip. In the end it's your call, so go out there and look around. Then post what you find. Rather than ask and ask. Opinion ko lang ito. Don't take it personally, as you've had with other comments. Let's make this thread a non-personal one and consider opinions (such as the Vitara comment) as just that, opinions, that are not meant to degrade clubs, owners, and cars.
    nice one, sir mbeige

Imported ang Peugeot from France. Mahal ang tax and it's being marketed as a premium brand here, hence premium prices.

SMART cars used to be made by Swatch and Mercedes. Don't know if its still in production or who is making them. Mahal sila, around Php800k for something which seats only two, has a tiny motor, and has virtually no parts available locally.

Sealed beams are old school lamps common to cars of the 70's. They were required in the U.S. for quite some time. See how Mercedes has to 'downgrade' their Halogen equipped vehicles to accomodate sealed beams.
    Halogen (flush mount):

You would do yourself a favor by going to the recommended car's or mini-car's showrooms and test driving one yourself. Only you can decide what you want and besides its your money and you'll be the one driving it.What the posters here can offer is only their opinion (which may differ from yours)

Nung naimbento na ang halogen, walang rules ang U.S. regarding them kaya [out of katamaran siguro] they just required everyone to install sealed beams.

daewoo went bankrupt because of poor build quality and generally shitty cars. since GM was their partner, when they went belly-up GM bought their car plant and continues to turn out Chevy Aveos, Sparks, and Optras for the third world market. I hear the Optra is a hot seller in Eastern Europe. Eh Comrade?

as per Kia, it was a victim of the 1997 asian currency crisis. Hyundai actually was forced by the Korean government to buy / bail out Kia kasi maraming mawawalan ng trabaho. So Kia and Hyundai are now the same company with the same products (e.g. Kia Picanto and Hyundai Getz are the same underneath, same as Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson).

hindi naman ito nakakasama, it's called "platform sharing" and lots of companies do it. e.g. the Ford Focus, Mazda3, and Volvo S40 are all based on the C1 platform. the Ford Fusion, Mazda6, and Mazda CX7 are also based on the same platform.

The Aveo is also sold in Europe. A place where you can't buy a Vios or a City (though the Jazz aka Fit is available). Daewoos are also available in Australia and in Europe.

Daewoo in the Philippines was handled by a small company in the south called 'Transfarm'. They were then selling Opel-derived Daewoos which were not really a solid value and soon closed shop. They sold the Racer/Espero/Cielo/Price models, btw.

Daewoo will soon start producing the Chevrolet Captiva for the European and Asian markets. It is a derivative of the GM Theta platform which forms the foundation of the Chevrolet Equinox (a product designed for the US market).

"basura" rin ba tingin ng europe sa rebadged chevy cars like spark, aveo and optra? 'cause these are the things a salesman wouldnt really admit.
