the entry-level MZ3 (1.6S) only has a driver airbag. no ABS. the midrange (1.6V) has 2 airbags, ABS, and digital climate control.

the S model is only available in gray, white, and silver. i think you need to buy the V model to get petrol red. i'm not familiar with the price difference, but you're right it's around 100k i think (since both are discounted).

BTW mazda has a 50k flat discount on all models right now (saw it in PhilStar last friday). so that 60k discount is... just 10k over the usual.

i would argue that a Focus 1.6 is a better choice for a lawyer.
the entry-level Focus 1.6 costs as much as the Mazda3 1.6S (e.g. 799k) but is a manual transmission (plus no 50k flat discount, so the Focus really is more expensive than the mazda3). BUT it has airbag, ABS, rear sensors, and power up/down on all the windows. plus it doesn't look so "radical." i mean it looks conservative. conservative is good

Nope. In 3-6 months time, a new model from another brand gets released and laos na naman ang pinili mong flavor of the month car today (pogi points down the drain). So to me, it's better to get a functionally sound & conservative looking car over form

lahat ng mazda3 are power everything.

I think the Focus 1.6L Trend MT would consume LESS GAS than the Mazda3 1.6S (both of them cost 799k although mazda has a 50k discount now). because the Focus is a manual tranny and the mazda is automatic.

The Focus 1.6 and Mazda 1.6 have the same engine. actually they are the same car under the skin, kaya hindi totoo yang "mas malakas sa gas ang Ford." eh pareho nga sila eh...

a friend of mine claims 8.5km/L on his mazda3 V.

i would expect the Focus 1.6 MT would do 10km/L+ under the same conditions.

dagdag: the Focus is more expensive (e.g. Focus 1.6 manual 799k, auto is 849k, vs Mazda3 1.6S 749k) pero the base-level focus has almost the same accessories as the V-model mazda3 (e.g. Focus 1.6 already has driver airbag, ABS/EBD, rear parking sonar... pero wala siyang passenger airbag or digital climate control). pero 889k naman yung mazda3 1.6V vs 849k for the Focus 1.6 automatic. (although again, may 50k discount si mazda... meron din kaya si Ford since pareho lang naman may-ari niyan...)

Can't speak for the rest of the guys here, but I've never regretted erring on the practical side.

Btw, orly is correct, the Mazda 3 and Ford are kissing cousins. They also share major bits with a certain brand called Volvo. All are under the corporate umbrella of Ford. Mazdas in the local market are also sold by Ford. But the office does try to present the two brands as separate entities.

I seldom choose form over functionality. Basic stuff siguro like damit lang siguro (shorts na maraming bulsa OK pero di ko kailangan). Sa sasakyan, obvious na sagot. Extension na ito ng bahay mo eh.

honestly (huwag kang magalit) you still don't deserve a new car kung hindi ka pa mindful sa daan at sa sasakyan mong dala...hindi porke you can start a car and drive it a bit means you know how to drive.

driving is really a big responsibility...lalo na sa mababanga mo...you can't just pass the problem on to your MOM and then you just LOL it!

I dint just LOL it. Did you know how many people I called before calling my mom? I dint have an easy time telling her what happened. Meron sa Pasong Tamo extension. Lagpas lang ng Chevy dealership and almost right infront of the Volkswagen dealership which is almost beside Suzuki. Basta tabi-tabi mga dealership dun.
