A note on the designs. You can see how much effort went into Mazda's design vs. Honda's. Although both have high waistlines and have bumpers that reach much higher than on older models, a lot of effort went into the Mazda3 to ensure that the bottom half of the car would not look very big.

In fact, if you look closely, the Mazda3 has much higher bumpers than the Civic, although the Civic looks completely dominated by it's bumpers, on the Mazda, they look petite thanks to a good disguise job. The new Civic face, though, manages to hide some of the weight of the front bumper, but the cab forward design makes it more pug nosed than it should be, with not much advantage to interior space. The Mazda has a swept back profile, but I can tell you, there is a lot of space in front of you, over the dash... what more in the Civic?

Both are actually nice cars but while the Mazda 3 was "the" compact sedan to own last 2004-2005, I think its time has passed and this year seems to be Civic's will the amount of buzz its generating right now.

It remains to be seen whether that buzz translates to sales, with the probable high price of the Civic and the lack of a "base" 1.6. As they're being priced and sized upmarket, I think a lot of people will be unable to get one.

Likely City/Jazz ang magiging bagong "Honda ng Masa".

250hp? Not bad for a stock bottomed MZR. With forged, he could be pushing over 300-350, but with no limited slip, I don't know how well that bodes for his axles.
Hi-Boost just finished doing 20psi today.

Still not a fan of the double-tiered dashboard display... you can see in the picture how the steering wheel is just the right size to obscure one display or the other... and having readouts in multiple areas may cause your eyes to hunt just a little too much.

But the 2.0 manual definitely has my interest. I'm still waiting for more official info.

The March Issue of TopGear supposedly has an exclusive on the new Civic.

I don't think the steering wheel will obstruct the instrument panel display. Most brand new cars today has a feature of adjustable steering column and besides Honda was not on the market for cars just yesterday.

Think about it, though. The rev meter is just the right size to see through the wheel. To see the speedometer, you'll have to move your head a little higher or lower if the steering is adjusted so that you can see the rev meter. Vice versa if you have the wheel adjusted so you can see the speedometer.

Only a few reviewers have commented on this, but I'd like to see it for myself.

I always thought the adjustable rake and tilt of my steering wheel was to adjust to my reach and height though.

The ATX is faster by 20% in shifting from 1-2 pala over the MTX sa Mazda3... no wonder.

Is it possible to configure the top display to show RPM instead?
