Well, the Mazda Millenia wasn't that sporty-looking either. It certainly wasn't compared to the Mazda6 which is every inch a sports sedan.

Of course over here, even the Mazda6 plays second-fiddle to V6 Altimas. Well, just about all sporty mid-sized sedans play second fiddle to the ubiquitious Altima which is everywhere. Here, it's many Pinoys' sports sedan of choice.

Edit: As for a Mazda6, the current body style is just right and even the N-A V6 is no slouch so long as it's the M/T. But, personally, a supercharged V6 would've been better than a turbo 4 if only for the refined engine.

    OT na to:

IMO it looks sportier than most competition

pero, the Mazda Millenia S was a great car. it just lacked badge apeal being compared with the likes of Lexus ES, Infiniti I30/I35, BMW 325i (circa 94), Volvo S70/850 etc...

it also offered great driving dynamics and an innovative Miller Cycle V6 Supercharged engine.

Maybe it's just me. But the Millenia still looks like a people mover despite the sporty wheels.

Bringing it back on topic, I'd definitely pick a MazdaSpeed3 over a Honda Civic Si only because I live and travel often where there are mountains.

I'm not sure if the 197hp Si will ever make it to the Philippines. If I had to choose between the top model of the Mazda3 and the top model of the Honda Civic in the Philippines, I'd definitely pick the 160hp Mazda3. I saw a beautiful blue one the other day and even here, it stands out.

me too likes great handling over power! picks Mazda3 hands down over the Civic!

put all the horsepower advantage towards the Civic, id still lean towards the Mazda3.

yup, the mazdaspeed6 does have AWD and LSD which i believe were meant to match the awe inspiring 274hp & 280ft-lbs of torque 2.3 turbo engine! in the other thread about a poll on midsize sedan, i voted for the mazda6 with particular mention on the mazdaspeed6. imo, this car can even outsprint & outperform the 3.5 nissan altima v6 at only 260hp & 251ft-lbs of torque, their price though is roughly the same...

The Mazda3 would actually at least be related to your old Contour (family cousin... ) But Ido like the V6 Altima...

*mazdamazda: Yup... the US Protege MP3(Lynx RS) consistently ticks the slaloms at 69-71 mph.... hehe... but that's on 17" wheels.

*slamtaz: With the current and upcoming Civic sportong MacPherson struts up front, the Civic has no advantage over the Mazda in terms of handling. In fact, the new Mazda is much better than the current Civic in terms of suspension... it remains to be seen how the new Civic will fare.

But yah.... not many manufacturers can match Hondas engine prowess...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Hmmm. I didn't know that. That would explain our Contour's excellent driveability. But yep, come every Sunday at Catholic Mass, many Pinoys come out and there would be a number of V6 Altimas (twin tailpipes) all lined up in the parking lot...... I should take a picture sometime when they occupy a whole row. I'm the oddball parked in the middle of them with the 3.3 Sonata.

    OT:
the contour surely drives great...it was designed by European Ford and even has a direct counterpart there, The Mondeo.

hehe... super OT nanaman tayo... last one... I love the Altima... really wish Nissan would bring that one in instead of the huge boat that the Maxima/Teana has become.

Just to steer it back on topic....

I know the top Mazda3 (not Speed) both 4 and 5 door are available in the Philippines. What's the top of the line Civic that Honda will make available this year?

Forged pistons? Is the owner made of money?

I envy him... I wish I had enough money to buy the Protege turbo shortblock and turbo kit for my 626...

250hp? Not bad for a stock bottomed MZR. With forged, he could be pushing over 300-350, but with no limited slip, I don't know how well that bodes for his axles.

masyadong conservative yung looks ng civic. mas aggressive yung looks ng mazda 3.
