    Hi All.

You might also want to consider whether there will be a mdel change for next year. As far as I've researched, the Corolla will still be here by 2006. The Civic however :

DI ko alam if I posted it right. Anyways, I think mga late 2006 pa mag momodel change sila pareho. Alam ko is very secretive talaga Toyota when it comes to new models kaya hirap sila malusutan ng spyshots.

Tama ba impression ko na mas frequent mag model change ang Honda?

    Both are good cars.

I was in similar situation last December. While still abroad, I requested my youngest brother to go to Toyota and Honda dealers and take a look at Altis and Civic features and prices/discounts/freebies.

My youngest brother only went to the Toyota dealer and was impressed with the 1.8E. He didn't bother going to the Honda dealer. Two more reasons he gave were: a) that the Civic might change models soon kaya baka hindi na gaanong pogi and b) kung titingin pa ng iba, baka tumagal ang pagbili (this was valid since my vacation was only for a 3-week period).

I arrived on a Friday, went to the dealer and made a reservation including color selection on Saturday, paid on Monday and got the car Tuesday.

My personal experience with Honda and Toyota cars:

    1. I had a Civic 1.5 (Jpn) from 1989 to 1993. It was already 5 years old noong binili ko. In the 4-year period na ginamit ko, isang beses lang ako tinirik. May nasirang relay doon sa AT.

    2. I had a Corona 1.8 (Jpn) from 1993 to 1997. It was 3 years old nang nabili ko. Maganda and arangkada niya. Medyo kinakarera natin. In the 4-year period na ginamit, isang beses lang tumirik. Nasira ang time belt, eventhough 70K pa lang ang odometer. Siguro, epekto ng paghataw.

    3. I used to regularly borrow my mother's Corolla 1.6 GLI to save on fuel, since my car was a Galant SS 2.0. I was working in Subic for a period of time (1998-1999) so during weekends nasa Manila but during weekdays nasa Subic. Reliable ang GLI and I was averaging 12-13 km/liter

The Altis would be a safe option, my friend said that the 1.8li variant has a higher km/li average than the 1.6li variant probably because of the better power to weight ratio or maybe di siya masyado humahataw and dad niya palaging humahataw.

Just get Altis. It looks better, is more fuel efficient, and easier to maintain.
