I just defended my statement. I don't want others to accuse me of making baseless remarks.

There's no question to that. What we need to know is if his claims are based on accurate tests.

Can't a fellow poster make an observation based on experience? You can't expect everyone here to be a car expert... this is a forum, we exchange ideas... you have yours I have mine. please respect that

Sige, as soon as I've discovered how to run two cars side by side , I'll gladly post the results.

And no, I won't risk my wife to race against me to see which car is faster. And I probably won't lend it to anyone else just to satisfy our curiosity.

My point is: the two are (Altis and Civic) are obviously two different cars and model. Suffice to say that they will behave differently, there's no need to argue which is better, for each has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Now, if I compare BMW 725 against say, even an Accord, the answer would have been more obvious.

No need to argue, I just raised my opinion in a PUBLIC FORUM that Honda (Civic or City) seems to be a more inspiring drive, than a Toyota. But, on the other hand, Toyota is more comfortable and feels safer. Again my personal opinion in a public forum.

I rest my case. I don't have to put these two cars in a dyno test, do I?

sakaling gusto mo ay automatic try to get at least a 1.8, although mas malakas ng konti sa gas, parang underpower masyado ang 1.6 pag auto lalo na pag may pasahero ka.

I'll probably compare Altis vs. the 1.5 City.

I thinks Honda "performance-wise", are better. The Altis performs better in a stop and go situation, having more torque at low rpms. Faster arangkada for Altis. But at an open highway, even the 1.5 city will convincingly outrun the Altis despite the difference in displacement.

The Honda engine is obviously more powerful at high RPM. BUT, I feel that whenever I want to drive with my wife and kid, I almost always instinctively reach for the Altis' key. I feel that I'm more comfortable and I'm more confident with the braking power and performance of Toyota. It's acceleration is smoother, though a bit slower while Honda brings out the lead in my foot.
I agree on this. I've driven both cars enough to make a statement :

The Corolla Altis does seem to be the choice when it comes to a family person. That's the same reason why we're looking for one for my sis and her family. The Corolla is sometimes referred to as a "bland" choice as they always package it in a way that it doesnt ace any aspects (engine performance, comfort, space, safety, etc.) but it scores consistently well in all. That's one factor that made it win a lot of local comparos and the general car buying public.

The Civic ES (7th gen) is still hands-down more of the driver's car... more RPM to work with (the Altis becomes trashy at high rpms but has good low end as observed earlier), flatter handling and more steering feedback, and the space is a tad more than the 'rolla (the 1.5L Lxi can even keep pace with the 1.6L sedans). OF course the heavier body and more restrictive emissions of the newer VTEC engines made this less "sporty" then the older EK and and EGs.

For a time i was looking to sell my pick-up for a '02 Civic VTi/Lxi m/t or '02 Altis E; i favored the Civic more for sole reason that i could not get a comfortable driving position with the Altis as the seats are high and did not recline far enough for me (at over 6ft in height), so it made my legs tired after some time during a long drive.

This said, in the end it is a matter of choice; there is no far superior car (or far inferior)... even outside of the two cars in question.

mmm... my friend has both the 1.6 and the 1.8, he told me that the 1.8 gives him better fuel consumption... around 10-11km/li. combined city/highway.

There's actually no issue with regards to driver preference. Everyone is welcome to express his or her own opinions, and I wasn't contesting your point of view when it comes to choosing the car you like. What's in question here is your claim that the City can outrun the Altis. This isn't an opinionated factor in cars, but a technical aspect wherein the truth of which can only be supported by actual tests.

its just an opinion bro... can't get too riled up about it. Like I said, this is a forum, we share our opinions. Ang pikon talo...

We read forums to get an opinion not test results.
