Honestly, I can never find a way to love the current Civic. Besides more space, and the availability of airbags and ABS, I can't see how this is a better car overall than past models, particularly the EK (96-00). It's uglier, less thoughtfully made, and has a lot of gimmicks (and criticisms) than ever. Yes, the Honda faithful still like it, but obviously, this is no longer the class leader. Besides, the new model is just around the corner, so if you really want a Honda, I strongly suggest you wait for that. If not stick with the Altis and have a peace of mind.

    Civic.

Kanya-kanyang preference yan. Sa Altis, di ko type ang harapan. Ang taas nya, eh. Parang di tama sa itsura. Pero pag naka-lowered, maganda dating. Yun lang gagastos ka pa.

I personally think there's no logic in writing a certain car off one's choices just because of its ride height.

Actually, the Altis was deliberately set high to cope up with our darn roads. As I said, the car really felt solid on the bumps. The suspension is sturdy albeit busy. But if you really want to lower the Altis, then by all means do it. I'd rather spend for extras on a car that will surely do me proud. And speaking of porma, I don't think that's the current Civic's tagline. I'm also pretty sure enthusiastic owners of these won't be satisfied with just the stock look. I believe they'll spend even more to improve its aesthetics, while 17s and some lowering are enough to make the Altis look perfect.

Kung manual tranny, I would go for the Civic, kasi sa Altis (Pansinin nyo mga Altis owners) from stop, when you press on the clutch, then the gas, you will notice a sound from the engine na parang tumutupi. Sa civic wala yun.

When it comes to automatic tranny, I might go for Altis, kasi gate type na parang Chedeng. May konting waiting time kasi ang automatic tranny ng Honda as I experience on my 03 CRV. My source of comparison sa automatic tranny is 03 CRV and 05 Innova G.

Sa looks? I personally would want to wait for a few months for the new Civic to come out, super ganda kasi itsura nito. From 1991, it is only the current Civic I did not buy kasi pangit ang looks. The past generations of Civics, I have it from the very first 1.2L hatchback to ESI, then to VTI. I think for me the best is still ESI.

I hope this will help! Peace!!!!

EK is the best in looks for sedan and EG for hatch.

Anyway, the gearshift in the manual Altis is notchy, nowhere near the Hondas in shift action and slickness. This is probably the biggest blunder of this car, and could be the only reason why potential manual transmission buyers will turn to the Civic. One of them was my friend. I would have insisted on the Altis but there was no way for him to get used to the shifter.

do you mean that the toyota altis sold here in the philippines have a higher road clearance than the altis sold anywhere else in the world?

    VTEC. All. The. Way.

Better car, better handling, better mileage, better reliability. Am I forgetting something?

The Altis has a better interior, but that's about it. The Honda is a better car that will last you longer and sell higher. It's a plain better investment, even if it does cost more.

Oh, and the Altis doesn't hold a candle power-wise to a manual Civic with VTEC.

*Sigh* Add to this the fact that you can trick out your Civic later on because it has so much more potential.

I can't believe you had to ask.

How sure are you with your claims? Have you read the quality and fuel economy tests lately?

Are loose fuel tanks on current Civics what you call reliable? Most others would think lemon or reject. This is a big blunder; quite a shame for a car maker hailed to be one of the best in the world. What if fuel splashes all over the road by accident, and a lit cigarette happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time? So much for quality and safety...

Perhaps the only advantage of the Civic is the manual gearbox because it's much slicker. And if the so-called VTEC3 is quicker than the Altis 1.6, that's because it's .1 liter higher.

Posts based on personal permonitions are not at all helpful here. You very well know just about all of what you said are false, right? Stop defending a loser of a car!. You're just confusing people who wish to know more facts before they buy their rides.
