You can't bypass the DAC of the head unit as long as it is analog. For example, we have a Pioneer 80PRS and a Alpine H800 processor. The chain is Pioneer 80PRS -> Alpine H800 -> Amplifiers -> Speakers. But since it's analog connection or via RCA plugs, the source is still modified/affected by the Pioneer's DAC. Only way you can bypass the Pioneer's DAC is if the signal is purely digital like from binary CD data (0s and 1s) directly out of a digital output (SPDIF/digital coaxial).1
