hi sir snowblind, some of our detailing gurus here had experimented some 10 - 50% mixture of water, and produced some positive results, others reported that the haze which was seen after is less and others said much easier to remove..
but together with the mixture.. others report that the shine it produces became less.
I have been using NanoSliq for almost 2 years but havent got the time to experiment with the mixture since I cant see in comparison the changes since my van is colored white :D
just to share lang![]()
Hi Ginnova. Thanks sa input.
Questions:
1. Since wax over sealant is a good combo. What do you think? Yung nakapackage with a sponge. Hehe.
2. Paano ba gamitin yang Klasse twins? KAIO can be used instead of a cleaner wax so minsanan lang paggamit nito no? I read somewhere na yung cleaner wax has abrasives so dapat minsanan lang ang paggamit. Tipong every 6 months lang? Iba ba itong KAIO? Saan ba sila nabibili? Big Bert's? Also, wala rin ako masyadong idea sa paggamit ng KSG and sa frequency ng paggamit nito.
3. Sa ONR naman? Pwede bang pang shampoo ito? Tama ba pagkakaintindi ko? Hehe.
QD - substitute sa carwash? pag maalikabok/madumi/may bird droppings or tree sap? Spray then wipe lang.
Planned Routine:
Initial routine: Wash -> clay -> cleaner wax(KAIO) -> KSG -> wax(915)
Week 1: wash + KAIO + KSG + 915(dry,buff,cure)
Week 2: wash only?
Week 3: wash only?
Week 4: wash + UQW
Week 5: wash only?
Week 6: wash only?
Week 7: Repeat
Pasensya na sir sa sobrang daming tanong. Total noob. First car e, hehe.
Thanks in advance! :D
If you have the money, then you certainly do KAIO + KSG + 915, for more durable protection (though the Klasse twins are pretty durable by themselves). 915 should look better than the Klasse twins alone, though it does depend on what kind of look you like (the twins give a candy-coated look to paint, a little plasticky, while 915 darkens and deepens that paint). However, do note that most of the look is in the prep - i.e., claying and polishing. Waxes and sealants may add some gloss or depth, but most of the shine comes from having clean, defect-free paint.
Apply KAIO using an applicator pad. Then, without removing the residue, you can apply the KSG immediately, very very thinly. Leave to dry and haze for an hour, and then remove. Let cure for 12 hours. You can use the KAIO + KSG combo every three months - it'll last that long, maybe longer.
KAIO is different in that, though it is a cleaner wax (technically a cleaner sealant), it does not contain any abrasives - the cleaning it does is via chemical cleaners. That means that it is ok to use often - in fact, I use KAIO to clean my paint surface before applying a fresh coat of wax or sealant (about every 6 weeks). You can get the Carlack twins (pretty much the same product, different names) from Big Bert's, and I've also seen them at MC Home Depot.
ONR is a very versatile product, with the uses you enumerate. Clay lube is to ensure that they clay does not stick to your paint and marr the surface; QD is spray and wipe, for light cleaning; rinseless washing is using a bucket and a wash mitt, use as you would a normal shampoo mixture, but no need to rinse with water - you can dry immediately. ONR will not strip your wax - in fact, it has polymers that will help prolong your wax or sealant layer. It's very convenient, and saves a lot of time and effort - in fact, I pretty much do just rinseless washes instead of conventional ones.
The routine you posted would be ok, except that on week 7, you could probably just reapply your 915 (no need to re-apply the twins yet).
if you have access to a covered area to do your detailing a few hours, get it. or watch the weather report and pull hairs while waiting for the applied product to cure.
most of your questions were already answered by umi
my recommendation of the twins was based on the existing products you already have at the moment. but if you have enough cash to buy klasse twins and 915 then that combo would be better. but for that amount combined i would go for a permanent coating like Cquatz, opticoat. mahirap din mag-collect ng mga LSP baka hindi mo maubos.
the twins plus your ultimate quick wax would be more than enough protection. but the key to achieve excellent results lies in paint preparation. to achieve this you would need a machine ( dual-action polisher ie. PC7424XP, G110 , Griots etc ). i would suggest you save for this one rather than collect duplicate LSP's.
What particular wax & polish brand is the best out there in the market that would give you the superb showroom shine? Preferably wax & polish in 1. I don't like a separate one for wax and another one for polishing. Thanks.
WBR,
90%+ of looks comes from the prep. You need to have your car's paint in perfect condition - no embedded contaminants, and swirls and scratches polished out - to get a proper shine. The choice of wax or sealant would only add 10% or less - waxes and sealants are more for protection. So, make sure your car's paint is in good condition - this will require polishing and (maybe) compounding. Afterwards, any product would look good - heck, I've seen some good-looking posts on other detailing forums using Turtle Wax Hard Shell. Conversely, the most expensive Zymol or Swissvax wax will not make swirly, cloudy, scratched paint look good.
Also, just to define terms (as commonly used - note some companies use them differently) - a polish is a product that is used to level/abrade the paint, in order to remove swirls and scratches. A wax (or sealant) is a product used to protect the paint, preventing contamination from sticking and preventing UV damage to the clear coat. So these serve two different purposes. Sure, there are products that do both (usually called all-in-ones or cleaner waxes/sealants), but as with all things, it is (generally) better to use products made for specific purposes, rather than jack-of-all trade products.
Hehehe, I agree - buy a DA and pads, you'll get more out of them than collecting different LSPs (ask me how I know...). With what I've spent on waxes and sealants, I could easily have bought a DA and pads already, and have made my life easier with regards to product application (thankfully, the car is still in pretty good shape, so not much need for a polish). So get a durable LSP, get a booster wax, paint cleaner/cleaner wax, some clay, then save for the machine. After that, you can go ahead and try out different LSPs if you like, if you have the money, though the difference in look isn't likely to be too drastic on well-prepared, good-condition paint.
Maraming salamat Ginnova and umi001!
Magexperiment muna ako sa manual. Ipon experience points muna bago ko subukan mag mechanical. :D
velcum to tsikot. and here in DTfN (get out while you can :lol. for polishing what? scratches? polishes leave on oils for the paint but not much of a protection. i like your want for simplification but i dunno of one. if it's strong enough to remove scratches then it may well remove itself.
in the middle, for minor blemishes, a wax with cleaners like Collinite's #885, Fleetwax, a cleaner wax in paste form with the durability known of Collinite waxes. pls ask autobisyo if they have this. #870 is liquid Fleetwax.
or you can try the ubiquitous albeit less durable Turtle Wax Carnauba Cleaner Wax or either of the M's cleaner wax. Generally carnauba waxes have some cleaning capacity because of the solvent that make the carnauba soft for application. Sealant AIOs have even milder cleaners than these.
Detailed. Wash > Clay > Asphalt removal > Wash > GLOS > 915 > SLIQ
