Nagbabawas ba nang coolant or may leak sa sahig? If yes, sign of water pump failure yan.

I forgot how much it cost for water pump replacement since it was a mere decade ago.

Do you think water pump yung problem (no circulation ng coolant)?

Any of you guys have an idea how long an engine can run without coolant before it overheats? The plastic drain plug of my radiator is broken/leaks and the radiator cannot hold water in longer than 3mins(parang gripo talaga). Sad thing is the plug broke in two such that half of the screw is stuck inside(handle broke off) so i cannot plug the leak...not sure kung aabot pa sa shop mga 20mins away and i dont want to risk overheating the car. Thanks!

Only a few minutes. Swerte na 5 minutes.
If you go fast, then it can still run. But then chances of damaging your engine is pretty high if itatakbo mo pa.

    Have it towed.

Use those clay-like leak plugs or quick-dry epoxy (steel) to temporarily seal the drain plug. Kung may radiator cap, alisin mo muna papuntang shop para hindi mag-build up ang pressure.

It will just take 3-5 minutes for the engine to overheat ... What you can do is drive to the shop 3-4 am ... Stop every five minutes and let engine cool for 30 minutes then drive again another 3 minutes and let it cool 30 minutes ... Repeat until you reach the shop ... Or you can try to refill the radiator every 2 minutes but it would be risky and you might get scalded ...

Or you can have mechanic do home service and remove radiator then bring to radiator repair shop ...

Had car towed on flatbed before for 1,500 to fix a broken hose worth 80 pesos plus 300 labor ...

Most drain plugs are made of plastic. Kung ganun ang sa sasakyan mo, on the spot, pwede mo mapasikwat sa isang mekaniko yun.

Not a mechanic here. Naisip ko lang, kung may butas radiator mo, and your only goal is to bring it Sa talyer, di kaya pwede yung mga pantapal na heat resistant, Yung parang tape na parang foil. Pansamantala lang. Para madala mo sa mekaniko.

Na putulan ako dati ng throttle cable sa old pajero ko. Nasa hiway ako nun. Dinugtong ko muna yung cable using para cord para lang mauwi yung kotse.

if you have a pair of long nose pliers, you might be able to reach for the broken part and screw it out. then you can screw in a brand new drain plug.

Thanks dr d and remzam. Sourced a new plug and used a small flat screwdriver to remove the old plug successfully albeit with great difficulty..ang sikip kasi and mahirap maabot. Nonetheless ok na ulit.

mga bros, temp warning light came up.
even when aux fan is running, i still get the temp warning in dash .
no recent change in the system naman, except for brake pad change about 1.5k km ago and lugnut stud issue the other day.
had it checked in jpwheels yesterday, was told that it was a bad fan, their comment was mahina daw. then went to exalta banawe, they said fan looks OK, as well as the water pump and no leak in system (cap also OK); since they could not identify the problem, they can only recommend to have the radiator checked and/or cleaned.

then i realized, i can check the temp via obd scanner, so i did. from banawe to maybunga pasig, temp never went over 98c (prolly cause it was 5:30pm narin). will update my post later around 12nn.
dati until about 98c (or 100c IIRC) ang inaabot ng coolant temp ko sa obd scanner reading via torque app.
ngayon 90c or lowest * 88c nag blink na ang temp warning sa dashboard. issue just started yesterday. naka toyota long life coolant naman, was replaced just about less than 10k km.

at first i thought it was a bad coolant sensor, but i can read naman via obd scanner that coolant temp is fine, so baka di naman sensor. any ideas kung ano pwede problem?

btw AC works fine even when the temp warning came up.
I'd go with dr.d here.. Change the aux fan.. Minsan kasi ang nangyayari sa Aux may time na kung kailan mo i-check eh gagana yan at may time na biglang titigil o babagal kapag hindi mo ni-check..

You might want to check the thermoswitch. I think this is the one sending the signal when to turn on and off the auxiliary fan.
