Otherwise, I could have spent more for a tow truck and a have very bad bad day.

I guess, this is really what happens when you say your radiator cracked. More money for me as I learn more!

Old vehicles with brittle plastics were in part caused by the desire of many companies to use environmentally friendly parts during production ... started around 1990s ...

radiators are plastic now, mainly because they are cheaper to manufacture than metal radiators.
    everything else is a bonus.

Sinisisi niya yung thermostat.

Water pump kaya or radiator cap?
    Try replacing the rad cap

Assuming ur radiator has no micro cracks that lets out steam.

Water in radiator is usually between 98c-103c, and to prevent boiling of water to steam, it is placed under pressure. The Radiator cap regulates that pressure, excess pressure, ie:creation of steam will spill water to the reserve.

If your cap fails, its will not seal properly and suck in air, same with micro cracks. Now if air passes thru the engine, it will overheat. Thermal runaway, not enough coolant.

I think radiator tanks are made of plastic is because cores and tubes are made from aluminum.. unlike radiators before that are made out of brass.
