120 is fine. I do it everytime when we travel north.

Above that, and you're asking for trouble ................ or a traffic ticket.

Yup agree 120kph is ok since i always go at that speed on the sorento. Natitiketan lang talaga ako pag GS dala ko, i really need to be conscious of my speed using the GS.

Got tagged today SCTEX northbound before Concepcion exit...122kph. Anybody tried to contest the ticket with the following technicalities?

    1. The deputized LTO giving the ticket was not the one that actually tagged you with the gun. Basically he is relying on hearsay and have no actual visibility on the offense.
    2. Was the person using the radar gun trained to use it? When? Are there certifications he has to meet?
    3. When was the radar gun last calibrated? By who?

THey can have my foreign license..I'll just get a replacement!

the question is were you really beyond the 100KM/h (+10% error rate) speed limit?

You may contest it as long as you want. You are entitled to do so, with your so called technicalities mentioned. One doesn't have to be an expert to point a radar gun to one's vehicle so that your speed can be measured.

It doesn't worth the time and stress and money to contest that violation, the 2 peso question is- are you running within the speed limit or not.

I am sure that the gun is not "calibrated" because when i was tagged last year, they told me that i was running at 147, but the truth is my speedometer is at 165kph. 😀

My luck has finally run out - got tagged earlier on my way home from Subic at NLEX Bocaue tollgate.

I didn't notice any enforcers by the side of the road, but I suspect it's after the Sta. Rita exit (when the highway goes from 2 lanes to 4) since that's the only time I went past 120. Will double check with my dashcam later if I find it.

How much is the fine again for NLEX speeding? And kailangan ba yung seminar?

They were active last weekend. I spotted a silver Crosswind parked parked along the side after bet Sta. Rita (southbound) and the Shell station.

What time did you go to the LTO and what time did you finish? I might go next Friday, unless the LTO is open on Chinese New Year.

Mukhang weekends nga sila active, especially now kasi holiday weekend. It's my fault since I let my guard down cuz I got so used to the regular weekdays where there aren't any patrols along NLEX, SCTEX, and TPLEX. No complaints though, will just make the time to attend the seminar and pay the fine.

I'll be heading up to Baguio tomorrow so I have to be extra careful and watch my speed. For sure madaming manghuhuli niyan.

Nagpunta ako ng LTO Main mga 8 am, natapos 10:30 am. Nitong January 2015 lang ako nahuli, 140 km/h sa TPLEX.

I reviewed my dashcam footage, and I can't seem to pinpoint where exactly the speed cam was.

Exhibit A - Parked MNTC pickup along 2-lane section of NLEX before Sta. Rita

I kinda doubt it's that, because when I overtook that Vios I was only doing about 110-120. I was told that I was doing 136, which would be about 140-145 on my speedo.

Exhibit B - Parked truck after Shell southbound

I don't know if NLEX enforcers hide in trucks now.

Exhibit C - another truck near Tabang

I was going quite fast at this part (150-160) so it's possible I was tagged here, but by a delivery truck?

Exhibit D - moving unmarked and tinted Crosswind

As a wildcard, is it possible that NLEX enforcers now tag speeding vehicles on the move? This was the only Crosswind that I encountered throughout my entire trip, and I remember that when I overtook it I did burst a little to about 150. If this is the case, then it's not a matter of knowing what exits to watch out for anymore.

Baka nasa overpass ala MMDA commonwealth boys.

Sa may bocaue toll plaza ata sila lagi nag aantay so kapag umexit ka sa may bocaue toll gate, ligtas na kaya?

nice presentation sir jut, well documented... but sorry, you ran out of luck and finally got caught. i'm guilty also of driving 120-140kph or more in tplex/sctex/nlex and i guessed im still lucky not to get caught. one thing i realized now is how good to have a dashcam, may i know what brand of dashcam are you using?

Might be possible to escape if you exit via Bocaue or any other exit. But that's if you're sure you've been tagged. If not, hindi mo iisipin na tumabi diba.

Another option is to wait it out in a gas station until it gets dark. Sayang oras and again, you have to be aware that you've been tagged first.

Speed guns in other countries have long had the capability of detecting speeds of other cars even if the patrol car is moving as well. It was only a matter of time until local enforcers got their hands on such technology.

SJ4000 bro. Lots of discussion about it on the DVR thread. I highly recommend it
