My congratulation to Mr A Reyes (you know who you are) for his newly acquired White Fortuner VVTi. 3 months of waiting is well worth it, right? Saan ang break in?

Originally Posted by beebs

hey guys, i am from Jamaica...i am getting my fortuner in a month's time...very excited about it....this forum has been very enlightening, and happy to say it has cemented my decision in buying the fortuner. I am getting a dark grey, 2.7ltr, 4X4, parking sensors, leather interior and remote key with alarm and immobiliser

Locally, we only have 3 variants available
V - 3.0L 4x4 D4D A/T
G - 2.5 4x2 D4D AT
G - 2.7 4x2 VVTi AT
In some Arabian countries they have a V6 engine.
i was at toyota ortigas and the sales people said that the 2.7 gasoline variant and the 3.0 diesel variant is available for immediate delivery without leather seat add ons. but there is still wait list for the 2.5 diesel.
it took a year for toyota to satisfy the market enthusiasm for the fortuner.
signs of the times. 2.5 4x2 diesel na ang malakas ang demand sa Fortuner ngaun. 2.7vvti too expensive for gas, 3.0 4x4 d4d too expensive srp.
If not for the price of gasoline, the 2.7 VVTi would be a great buy. But, the 2.5 D4-D has even better value, if not for the possible fuel pump issue.Originally Posted by oldblue
It's kinda surprising that the demand has now shifted towards the 2.5 D4-D.
parang hindi naman problema yan fuel pump issue sa new buyers coz up to now, dito lang sa tsikot maingay na maingay yan issue na yan.Originally Posted by vicoyski

Guys, are you experiencing brake squeeking sound sa fortuner? pansin ko kapag decelerate ako from 50kph rinig yung squeeking sa loob maski nakasarado window. mileage ko 5TKms palang and I dont drive and brake that hard to save gas.

last time i did a social visit at my dealership in QC, their '06 RAV4 is practically 'nilalangaw'. Mabenta pa rin daw ang Fortuner. Their sales of Fortuner barely waned. I saw several units na ilalalabas only for the that day.Originally Posted by cardo
Several Fortuner owners, including me, have experienced this crunching sound (parang kumakaskas) that starts when you deccelerate below 50 kph, first at faster interval, then bumabagal and will vanish when you're at a complete stop. I also noticed this when i turned off my radio. However, i haven't got any explanations for this yet.Originally Posted by teodoro5599
I am actually ordering my Fortuner fromt the Toyota dealershiphere in Jamaica. Only one version of the Fortuner is offered in Jamaica. Only variation are the colours. The reason Jamaica is not using the deisel version, is that the version deisel gas we use here, is not the refined version as the oil used in Japan or may be your country. And this can give ur vehicle problems over a number of years. We still use the old time deisel oil.Quote:

The reason we dont use the 4litre V6 its because Toyota Jamaica offers the Toyota Prado which is already in high demand. So it would be unnessary to sell 2 vehicle providing almost the same exact specifications.
Hey Godfada! Welcome to the forum!![]()
We're glad to actually hear that guys from other countries are getting good information through this thread. It really helps to read up, such that you can make an informed decision.
In an island like Jamaica (only 235 kilometers long), a gas 4x4 Fortuner would do just fine.
Thanks for the info. Welcome & enjoy your ride.Originally Posted by Godfada
Speaking of the Prado, they are recalling about 100,000 units for a faulty rear axle or something.

Do you guys trust the alarm system that came factory installed? I want to know if i need to install a better alarm system when it comes.

*Godfada, congratulations on your new ride. A wise choice, indeed!Originally Posted by Godfada

The stock TVSS (Toyota Vehicle Security System) that was installed on our units here in Philippines doesn't have the immobilizer feature, which are standard on other countries. It's a basic alarm system, to tell you honestly. However, it depends on your personal requirement, safety-wise. Upgrading is always better.
