Is it more of a tugging sound (like a dull thud), or high pitched spring-like sound? I don't think is has something to do with the variant.Originally Posted by magikels
A/T tranny experts, anyone?
baka ang brakes lang yan. you try not to engage the parking brakes when not using it if it still happens.
you should be happy hearing the sound cause it indicates that your abs is working. the fortuner checks if your abs is working properly everytime you turn on the ignition and this creates a peculiar sound.Originally Posted by magikels
Pagbiyaheng Manila to Mindanao tapos choice of Fortuner 3.0 and Alterra 3.0, I'll go for Alterra nalang even thel looks is not as stunning as Fortuner's. Haven't heard any complaints regarding Alterra even our neighbor that has one.
No offense to Fortuner owner, just my opinion.![]()
Speaking ABS....
There are always times you want to test if the ABS is indeed working, not just by looking a indicator light.
Ako, I tried to use it on some malls like sa Robinson's Galleria pag basa ang floors doon. Very slippery talaga yung driveway papunta sa parking area.
really? there should be a sound check for abs?Originally Posted by lexus

none taken... everybody's entitled to his own opinion.Originally Posted by simpsonseclaire

im sure walang complain for the alterra cause hindi masyado nagagamit. nahihiya kasi sila sa naging choice nila. heh hehOriginally Posted by simpsonseclaire
kidding aside. i have driven both the fortuner and the alterra extensively. hands down, i go for the fortuner
not a sound check but an indication that the abs is working. thats what the fortuner manual saysOriginally Posted by cardo

Just had my 10Tkm check-up. Had the brakes looked at. Everything checked-out naman.
What's with the ABS issue? There is no issue. There was a brake test of one unit in Thailand (which was probably a lemon unit). It didn't involve the ABS, but rather, the disc pads.
Alam mo naman... "If you taste a lemon, it'll always be sour..."
Bias aside (from me-bec. I'm a Fortuner owner), the Alterra bec. of its interiors (dash, side panels, upholstery) actually feels like a delivery van. Acceleration feels linear but the engine bellows this annoying truck-like grunt and whistle that make it sound like an ELF van (of course they are both Isuzu[s]). Anyway bet. the two the Alterra does feel a notch down and choosing the Fortuner is the right decision in this situation.Originally Posted by lexus
I've actually loaded up on Shell's E10 blend and surprisingly my mileage actually improved. With hard driving and traffic, my average consumption improved by 0.3 km/liter. But the best benefit I am experiencing right now is a smoother running engine. Been on it for a week. All new cars should be e10 compliant.Originally Posted by chorizo
That's good to hear. I'll try it on my next full tank.Originally Posted by trader
Just a question, is the new Shell E10 really compatible with normal gas engine like the one on the Fortuner? Will the E10 have any foreseeable effects in the long term when used with normal gas engines (or engines not specifically labelled as "flex-fuel"). In an ad, Ford specifies that the Focus here is a flex-fuel vehicle.
