Don't know exactly what is the real benefit of installing hood insulator for 2.0 VVTi Innova

I don't see any paint fading on the hood (inner and outer surface) on my almost 7 year old daily driven VVTi Innova.

in my opinion, an insulator works both ways.. it also keeps heat from exiting the engine bay.. keeps the engine hotter and the cowl cooler.. so what do we want to protect?

I don't have hood insulator and my engine does not overheat neither.

In my opinion hood insulator only collects dirt overtime and may collects residue that would start rust

I would still love to see my under hood clean and shinny.

in my case.. its more of a want rather than a need.. i installed engine hood insulator in my Innova VVTi because of the following reasons..

    1. engine bay looks cleaner when the hood is opened - mas malinis.. mas maganda

    2. sound deadening - though tahimik na ang VVTi pag umaandar.. mas tumahimik pa when the hood insulator was installed.. halos di ko na marinig yung andar ng makina pag nasa loob ako ng sasakyan

    3. protect the hood (in any way) from extreme heat

    4. D4D's (Innova, Fort) comes with hood insulator and D4D engine is hotter than VVTi.. i don't think the heat emitted by the engine is trapped inside the engine bay..

    5. i don't see any harm of installing hood insulator in vvti engine.. camry also have this anyway.. not sure about altis and vvti Fort..

this is just my opinion.. correct me if im wrong..

Its more of sound deadening if its in a camry, in a d4d it could also function the same. I really cant take the noise indoor and outdoor of a d4d innova . Though it drives easier in traffic and cost less., noise increase as the car ages. Engine noise is more evident even only with 10k mileage .

+1 - to see is to believe.
also, in the heat of the sun, parang bibingka hood mo, ibabaw at ilalim ang init.
worst sobrang init then ulan... you know what i mean.
anyway, it's others opinion we have to respect, with or without already tried and so we can see the difference.

and what i have observed ang init ng VVTI engine in a long run... ewan ko gaano kainit ang D4d?

Kaya di ko mabili bili dahil dito....pero gusto kong lagyan, natatakot lang ako...

Naku patay, baka ito yung cause ng sunog ng stretch limo sa US recently ...
Joke lang just to spice the night!

If you don't want to put it, there's no need to, kanya kanyang trip lang yan, pweding basagin, pweding hindi.

I saw the video.. and yes its a D4D innova..

however.. there are thousands of Innovas on the road and that is the only incident I found when I searched the internet including here in tsikot and other forums..

I also searched for other brands of car but I did not find anything about burning hood insulator.. AFAIK.. high end cars whether its sedan or SUV.. gas or diesel powered.. all of them have this hood insulator but no reported incident about this burning..

so i consider that single incident as isolated.. di rin natin alam kung ano yung totoong condition nung sasakyan bakit nasunog..

    just my opinion..

    Tanong lang mga guru:
Nag pa PMS ako kahapon for 5k and may dalawang item akong brought out sa casa:
    1. Yung tunog every morning na parang belt na di maka ikot, lasting for about 30secs then gone, only happens in the am
    2. Yung speedometer ng innova has +10 more km/hr reading compare sa GPS ko.

Yung #1 sabi baka daw sa fan belt but when they chk mahigpit naman, then this morning notice ko yung tunog is when you open the aircon so maybe sa aircon nga, ask ko yung iba if may am tunog din kayo when you open aircon in morning time only.
Yung #2, na prove nila na mali nga yung speedometer ng innova, they use a gadget and road test it, yung gadget nila at yung gps ko pareho read, while yung car +10 km/hr. Ex. 90km sa gps, 100 na sa car.

Ask ko yung iba if may issue rin kayo na ganito or pa try kahit using your phone with gps for the speed kasi first time na may nakita silang ganito.

    Salamat po.

    1. Wala pa ako experience na ganyan. kaka 5K PMS ko lang din.
    2. Yung speedometer ko ay +5 sa GPS device ko sa Iphone. Pero hindi ko ito pinapansin. Pwede kasi sa gulong lang yan or something.

1.) mahigpit talaga belt kasi self/auto tensioner yan eh. check the pulley baka stuck=up or nag slip kay umiingay.
