*innova_g, same model pala tayo sir. A/T G model
I have an E variant of the innova. Anyone knows where I can buy a good after market keyless entry system? kahit wala ng alarm. What is a good brand and around how much would it cost. thanks
hi peeps, i'm a newbie here. just want to share to you my recent experience with my innova. it's a gas j variant. had to bring it to toyota alabang last friday because of its unusually lack of power. medyo nanginginig at low revs (esp. below 2,000rpm). the guys in the casa took a longer time than usual to pinpoint what's wrong with it. monday na nang makuha ng wife ko. tested it today di na sya nanginginig. the culprit - corrosion. they changed the sparkplugs. when i saw the sparkplugs last night they were all rusty and burned. good thing the cylinder heads and the other parts were not affected. ok pa naman daw. nagkatubig daw yung loob.
i find it very wierd. i bought the unit march 2005. kakalampas lang nya ng 3-year warranty. feeling ko medyo parang maaga pa para magkaganito makina. around 27,000 kms pa lang ang tinatakbo niya. casa maintained pa yan. petron blaze pa gamit ko ever since as suggested by the sales rep. i always bring it to manila bay where i bought the unit kasi may discount card. (sayang naman kung sa ibang casa pa.)
sabi nung SA sa alabang, baka raw napasukan ng tubig habang ine-engine wash. i told him, nobody touched the engine except manila bay. i don't have it washed at any car wash depot. sila lang naman yung nag-dedetail nun. minsan di ka pa tinatanong kung ide-detail nila. basta makikita mo na lang sa bill pag kukunin mo na.
anyway, when it was still new (even up to now), i noticed that there's water coming out of my exhaust pipe. told the SA immediately during the 1,000 km check-up. sabi lang nya normal lang daw yun. when i brought it for the 5,000-km check-up, told him that rust is already forming on my exhaust pipe probably because of the water discharge. he checked it out and said that it's ok. nothing to worry about. condensation lang daw yun nung makina. and the rust will not damage the pipe. now, after what happened, i'm not sure if this caused the corrosion inside the engine. could someone explain this condensation phenomenon to me?just want to understand more about how corrosion sets in inside the engine. i guess with more knowledge, i think i have more chances to avoid this incident from happening again. is there a maintenance or driving habit i need to know?
before this happened, i was happy with my purchase. overall, i think the innova is a good family car and a utility vehicle at the same time. it's so flexible and delivers enough power when you need it. di ka naman bibitinin pag oovertake ka o kaya steep climb kahit puno. however, now i'm a little disappointed.
did this ever happened to anyone here?
I'M BACK mga ka-Innova.kadadating lang namin Tuesday morning... medyo nagbabawi pa ng tulog kaya ngayon lang ako nakapag online...whew! mahaba haba ding back read 'to ah... anyways, simulan ko na.

RE: rusty exhaust pipe tips.
This kind of premature rusting mostly occurs with IMV('s) powered with vvti engines. Barring the engine moisture theory as diagnosed on your Innova, exhaust tips on vvti engines tend to rust because of puddle of water that would slowly collect there whenever the vehicle is washed or when it is exposed to *******ial rain. I don't know about your rusty exhaust pipe, but most of the IMV('s) powered with vvti engine's tail pipe are rusty only on the interior (inner) tip edge of the tail pipe.
The D-4D engines don't have any problems of this kind because its exhaust pipe become gradually "coated" with an impermeable layer of black soot, courtesy of the engine emissions.
My remedy for those with rusty exhaust tips is to first sand the rust out with a very fine sandpaper grade (forgot the grade I used). With the rust out, wipe the surface clean with a clean rag or cloth. Apply waterproof EP grease on the entire outer tip of the exhaust. This will prevent immediate rusting whenever water collects again.
The forming of water puddle on the exhaust tips can be controlled or minimized by covering the tip with a plastic bag whenever the vehicle will about to be washed. Be sure to remove it immediately after washing. When the vehicle gets rained on hard, just get a tissue and lightly dab the exhaust tip. I emphasize dab lightly, because the tissue's absorbent qualities will allow it to absorb the moisture without having the need to exert force (otherwise the grease might be wiped off as well).
"the rust will not damage the pipe". The SA is wrong. If left untreated, the rust will eat through the pipe tip, but its going to take a few years for that happen. By then, the exhaust tip will be long gone, as if somebody sawed it off the pipe with a very blunt saw.![]()

Question, magkano po ang CMO fee nyo sa mga innova nyo? Pwede ba i-negotiate to at maging free? Thanks.
Guys, with the ever increasing cost of fuel, headed by the major oil companies...has anyone among you tried using fuel (gas and diesel) from the other minor fuel companies in their innovas?
Post naman your experience with these stations (locations din sana) para at least we can make the most out of the present situation of ballooning fuel prices...

Stoponred, during initial start, the exhaust pipe is still cold. When the exhaust gas passes through the cold exhaust pipe, the water vapor (inherent in exhaust gas as a byproduct of combustion) condenses, hence you have water trickling from the tailpipe when you had just started your vehicle's engine. This will stop when the exhaust pipe is hot enough for condensation not to occur. This is perfectly normal and true for all engines. You don't have to worry. As to rusting within your engine, water in your fuel might be a culprit. Also, when you have your engine washed while it is still hot, condensation might occur within. Yet another possibility is water entering through the spark plug sockets when you had your engine washed.
Maraming salamat po at pasensya na po sa abala * Mam Liv.
