I’m planning to buy the Innova 2.5L M/T D4D G variant pag-uwi ko ng pinas next month. This will suppose to be my first car. But when I read the thread of the D4D engine woes, I think I prepare to get the Innova 2.0L M/T Vvti G variant. Also I read on this thread that Toyota admitted they have a problem on their D4D engine. Although mas mura ang diesel compare to gas, but if still there is a problem on their D4D engine I rather go to Vvti engine.

Tanong lang po sa may mga unit na Innova 2.5L M/T D4D, problematic pa rin ba until now or Toyota already solve the problem on their D4D engine?

How is the general performance of Innova 2.0L M/T Vvti G variant? Okey ba tumakbo on highway and off-road? Hindi ba matagtag sa daan lalo na kapag solo ka lang?

Pasensya na po kung marami akong tanong. Just want to make sure na okey iyong unit na pipiliin ko.

If you're not going to use your ride most of the time better get the Gas version, but if you are a heavy user then get the Diesel.

Me and my officemate have both the Gas - G M/Tvariant and we have the same FC of 10 - 11 Km/l city driving, 13-14 on highway.

If you're not a heavy user then the P50K-off from the gas variant versus the diesel version will be use to pay the price difference of petrol. Plus maintenance of Gas variant is minimal compared to Diesel and your tail pipe end would still look fresh even after years of use with no black residue. My first 1k and first 5K maintenance cost P1,200 for both with each maintenance uses 6 litters of mineral oils and filter only.

Performance on handling and driving for both Gas and Diesel is acceptable even on high speed.

Matagtag? it was not, you have to reduce the tire pressure once you recieve your unit, they sometime deliver the unit without changing the tire pressure to normal use. At the dealer they have the tire pressure at 50-55psi, they have to harden as this units are parked for a long time in their yard. You have to expect a little bumpiness and side by side swaying as the rear wheels are joined by differential axle, the rear wheel movements are not totally independent as compared to other SUV or MPV.

Mile2, thank you very much for the informations, it helps me a lot. Upon reading your comments, I'm decided now to take the gas variants.

Yes, you are right. I'm not a frequent user and the 50k - off might be use to pay for the price difference of petrol. Not to mentioned the maintenance cost of gas variants compare to diesel variants.

Again, thank you very much. This forum really helps.

No problem. I also asked questions in this thread and the D4d woes thread before I decided on the Gas variant. I even ask small things like why the J variant does'nt have the door ajar warning light on the instrument panel.

OT: Check also the "More than the looks" board for proper care of your car paint. This board helps me understand proper washing and waxing of a car. I regret how I mishandle my old white Lancer...hehehehe I even used scrubbing pads on it ., Now my Innova is still looking prefect and shinny after 4 months of daily trip from Bulacan to Makati vice versa. Kung alam ko lang ang tungkol sa Microtext na basahan noon and these easy wax-on products...hay sana maayos pa pintura ng Lancer.

My fuel consumption combined city and highway is 11.8 kms per liter. 6 kami dito sa neighborhood na naka d4d , lahat kami dito satisfied naman.

In that case, Toyota already solve the problem on their D4D engine. Good news yan. Salamat sa info.

question lang sa mga fellow innova owners: How often do you (or should you) wax your ride?

*bad trip talaga TQA, 2 months na wala pa din yun license plate ko*

I don't think there was a major problem in the 1st place. (sorry to those D4D woes victims, just my opinion) Mine is running at 18Tkm and no problem at all. I heard toyota sold innovas at a rate of 8,000 units per month back then; so if complainants reach tops at 100 then they won't even reach near 1% of the total innova running out there (correct me if I'm wrong)

The problem I see is that they keep on selling units without synchronizing their service capability. Sure the dealers' lobbies are quite comfortable but the long wait is sometimes unbearable. Sometimes the beautiful receptionists' smile gives a relief, but sometimes its useless. I suggest they put more competent staff to address our concerns -fast. No matter how big or small. We are the customers, they should treat us like kings!

    cheers!

To tell you the truth guys, I got my second hand E variant in November last year with 8,700 km reading. Three days after, a friend of mine told me to visit the D4D engine woes. I almost fainted upon reading all the negative comments. But I believe in Toyota quality and besides, there's the warranty, so I just said to myself, bahala na. I'm averaging 80 kms travel a day from the house to my work. My odo now has 14,078 and have not experienced any of the complaints mentioned in the thread. I'm averaging 12.3 km/ltr fc.
