the more you open your filler cap, the less negative pressure that can accumulate.

so the more frequent you gas-up, the better?

Yun nga din iniisip ko, why the hell does the gas tank accumulate negative pressure? My innova does that even when Bnew.

I think the tank has a regulated vacuum relief valve. kung totally nagetive pressure yon, mag crumple na kagad on the first full tank pa lang.

Buksan ko na lang gas cap ko twice or thrice a week on a full tank of gas.

Actually done that during those days when my gas tank floor was already warped and it did not helped, probably due to long travel hours (2-3hrs) per trip. At the parking lot I usually open the filler cap and immediately a loud metal popping sound will be heard underneath.

What actually lessen the negative pressure was, when the dealer cleaned the filler cap breather holes and the removal of that small filter mesh on top of the filler cap's breather holes.

I would highly suggest an annual checkup of the filler cap breather holes or even replacement if necessary.

a few years ago, we put E-10 gasoline in our car and didn't use it for some time. a few weeks later, we tried starting it, but it refused to. finally, after looking at everything else, we found out that the fuel inside the tube and tank had solidified! we replaced the victimized parts.
i am thinking now, that, is it possible the innovas being mentioned in this gas tank deformation mystery, are a victim of their breather tubes being clogged by alcohol-gasoline fuel mixture? has anyone examined the breather tubes of these tanks?
btw, we had since sold this car...

hindi kaya sa vacuum valve ang problema? i got this from toyota otis website:

    Fuel Tank Cap

What is a fuel tank cap?

It is a cap for the fuel tank.

Importance of inspecting the fuel tank cap
If the gasket is damaged, gas evaporates into the air.
If the vacuum valve malfunctions, air cannot be drawn into the tank to replace the fuel used. Then, a partial vacuum occurs in the tank causing an indentation
    Evaporated gas
In the fuel tank, some fuel vaporizes, containing a large volume of poisonous HCs (Hydrocarbons).

    Vacuum valve

    sir saan casa mo dinala?

yung innova G (2005) namin, nagpalit na kami last May/June under insurance.
Ayun, butas ulit same area.

    Thanks

Yung first gas tank ng innova namin, napalitan under insurance, now butas ulit.
Hirap kausap insurance, sabi may tumama kaya hindi pwede i-claim warranty sa Toyota yung gas tank. Hay naku, nag-tuturuan yung insurance at toyota.
