Yung rims naman, personal preference yan. You like it, some don't. So suggestion lang naman. :-)

Pero definitely you should ditch the tilting plate holder and the CF sticker. Sana kung totoong CF siya diba.

If you already have proper lowering springs and not putol, I don't see any reason on why should you change it. If you find the ride too bumpy, try installing O-sulee spring cushions. I've heard they're effective.

That's not an actual setup, I just Photoshopped the chin, rims and headlamps onto our stock Altis 2.0V. That would roughly be the equivalent of 18" rims. Ang 18" tires na similar sa circumference ng stock 205/55 R16 tires ng Altis ay 225/40 R18.

For smoked headlamps, you can ask the folks at Banawe to do it for you, or pwede rin kay sir garyq kung magpapaprojector retrofit ka.

My ideal setup for an Altis would be something like this:

    - XRS OEM front chin
    - PhDM OEM side skirts
    - Smoked headlamps w/ amber turn signal indicators
    - 18" Gunmetal Grey Volk TE37 SL (mahal nito sobra, so realistically I'd be going for either Rota IKR or Katana RZ5)
    - 1-2" lowering springs

I believe a set-up like that would still look good even in a silver Altis like yours
Baka hindi naman orig yan, taiwan lang.

    EDIT: Photoshopped pala.

Pero yun nga, may Taiwan made Rota TE37 SL naman.

Try also color keying the rear ducktail and front grille (or maybe get the mesh grille from the 2.0V model).

The tire size seems fine; with that you don't have much fender gap too. No sayad problems?

This is soooo me. :D Nung bata, ayaw ng may driver. Naiinis pag pinapasama sa driver. Now, i want a driver and when i ride with a driver, gusto ko yung driver na maingat hindi masyado mabilis magpatakbo (steady lang sa road and tama magdiskarte). Before, i always chose to use a driver na alam ko mabilis mag-drive.
These are the times na tamad ka na mag park sa mga malls or mga offices hehe. And hirap magpatakbo kung traffic both Edsa and C5 at the same time. Better to invest in good sound system na lng para relax. How does the Altis ride in comparison to Elantra?

Buti nalang I have office parking. :D But for the malls, i really make it a point to go early if it's a weekend just so i don't stress myself out looking for parking. That's why i prefer spending my weekends in the province if i want to go malling. Light traffic, free parking and i have a choice of SM, Robinsons and Ayala Malls (this is in Pampanga). Outlet stores pa yung iba so it's discounted.

I don't know how the new Elantra rides but i'm expecting it to be more driver oriented (firmer) vis-a-vis the 'Rolla.

By ride, what exactly do you mean? If it's ride comfort, I'd say they're about equal. Well, the Elantra lets you feel the road more (which is bad for older people with sensitive backs on the way home from a long day at work), but it's not as awful as the FD's rock hard seats.

If it's the experience inside the two cars though, the Elantra really takes the cake. It just feels more upscale. The Altis 1.6V may have more toys, but the interior design and space of the Elantra GLS makes you feel like you're in a car worth more than you paid for. However, if you're looking for something that isolates you from the stresses of the outside world, the Elantra doesn't come close to the zen feeling that the Altis has.

Then Altis wins this round for me. Not really a fan of road hugging cars unless I live in places with good roads.

I'd definitely choose the Altis over the Elantra. You cant go wrong with Toyota. Sure Advantage when it comes to Reliability, Durability, Fuel Economy, and resale value

It'd be weird if a Toyota salesman advocated that the Elantra is better than the Altis

before I bought the 10th gen, I was really looking for an exciting driver's car. I test drove the FD, the hyundai i30, and the focus. But when I test drove the altis, I realized that what I wanted all along was a "numb", secluded, and comfy car (epiphany kumbaga). factoring in the fuel economy (FC of focus was horrible) and future maintenance costs the the altis was the clear winner.

I guess that's the word for me as well - epiphany, when we decided to try Toyota again with this 10.5 gen Altis. when we got home from the dealer I sort of had a moment inside the car, hehe. pero parang nag set-in narin yung edad ko for that matter.

Haha. :1stplace:

With more comfortable (daddy cars), i'm usually more relaxed and less susceptible to getting pissed on the road. My wife noticed this just recently since i alternate cars during the weekday between the gen 9.5 and 10.5 Altis while i still don't have my plates.

haha even IF I weren't from Toyota, I'd still go for the Altis. Never really a fan of the Elantra... But match it with the Civic? I'd go with the straight H this time hehe. btw, I drive a GM City & a Civic FD. hehe

They should make a comparo on Altis, Elantra, Cruze, new Civic and Sentra 200. I saw plenty of Cruze when it was launched, but lately I don't see much of it.

People aren't just willing to gamble with the Chevrolet brand. I myself wouldn't. Family had an Optra and although it did drive and ride well, the maintenance was just a pain in the ass. :hammer:

IMO TMPI should've continued selling the 1.8V and discontinued the 1.6V instead. Pambato man lang sa 1.8L Civic and 1.8L Cruze, mate it with a 5 or 6 speed AT and it would be a winner.

    Sayang.

The 1.6 Altis, even when paired with an AT, is about 2 km/L more fuel efficient than the Cruze and Civic. That's big. A transmission change is probably enough - it made the 2.0 3ZR-FE 1 km/L more fuel efficient. If they can do that to the current 1ZR-FE, edi kasing tipid na yun ng Vios 1.5 AT.

I believe that the 1.8V was discontinued because for those looking for bigger engines, hindi rin macoconvince ng Toyota na bumili ng 1.8L TOTL sedan when other manufacturers have 2.0 liter engines fitted on their TOTL compacts.

A lot of people say that the Cruze is a better comfort-oriented compact than the Altis, but if I had to choose between the two, Altis pa rin ako. The Cruze is bigger and has better handling without compromising ride quality, but it also has a thirsty 1.8L engine and a slow automatic. At least yung Altis kahit mabagal yung tranny, matipid naman. Then there's the Elantra - anyone who's daring enough to try something other than Toyota and Honda will almost always be swayed towards the Elantra, shoving backstage the likes of the Cruze, Lancer EX and Sentra 200.

Wow, it's been a year since I last visited the thread. Buti buhay pa hehe. Help guys, I need your opinions regarding my altis '09. For the past month, I've been having noise problems coming from the front wheels of the car. It's like a squealing sound (parang nagkikiskisan na bakal) whenever I pass through potholes and humps. I had it checked by my trusted mechanic. The diagnosis was that the lower ball joint may have already worn out. So I had it changed although the part was not genuine. Sabi nila, I can keep the non-genuine ball joints but they recommend replacing my shock absorbers. TIA!

If there's a "thud" sound when the car hits dips then it may be the shocks. Have you done a bounce test? On the metal to metal contact, try checking also the spring and shock insulation (if there's any on the Altis 10th gen).

You can not avail the OEM shocks but avail an aftermarket one instead. KYB brand. Just see which of the two is cheaper.

You can check out Toyorama in Banawe if they have an available shock for your ZZ.
