I guess im part of a dying breed.

Most buyers of this crossovers are after convenience, hence only automatic versions.

Nowadays, MT tranny has no advantage of sorts against an AT tranny except giving its owner the ability to row the gears on their own. Even in terms of performance, automatics have the edge for most vehicles.

Maintenance though requires a bit less for an MT tranny.

True that. In some cases, automatics are more fc friendly than manuals (mirage).

Main reason manual transmission is being discontinued is because certain vehicle safety features can only be used on automatic transmission vehicles ... For example, radar safety and automatic brake systems ...

Mas maganda AT. Dinala ko sa probinsya kahapon. No need to use the paddle shifters when overtaking. Binibigyan ko lang ng gas and nagddownshift na sya. malakas naman at kayang kaya mag overtake.

Ang malaking problema dyan dito sa Philippines, all car distributors (minus siguro yung luxury vehicles), they do not include the *standard* technology package na available sa same vehicle models na nilalabas nila sa abroad except one.

advantage of MT is that if you really like the car but the auto tranny has some kind of fatal issue e.g. Power$hit DCT on ford, and CVT on earlier hondas

    and of course cost

    other than those a/t wins

Mas nakakapagod pa nga yung AT. You have to press and hold the brake pedal pag naka stop. Nakakangawit.

Nabasa ko kasi na masama ang pag shift from D to N pag trapik. Na-stress daw ang transmission. I am new to AT.

Sa MT ko mas madali, neutral lang. Bagong palit pa yung clutch ko sa isang auto kaya kalambot. hehe

Well most new cars now may auto brake hold na.

And mas nakakapagod mag shift manually pag traffic, given na yun.

You put in in N when at a stop light or stopping for more than 20-30 seconds ... Constantly shifting from D to N will obviously wear out the transmission faster than keeping it in D ... But you have to take "constantly" in context ... It might mean every time the car stops (even for just 5 seconds), the driver shifts to N ... But even then, the automatic transmission will still last for 100T kms ...

It's like saying turning on the vehicle air conditioner will wear it out faster and consume more fuel ... But you still turn it on for comfort and convenience ...

Safety first so put it in N when at traffic stops ...

Thanks for the tip. First AT car ko kasi to sir. Kaya choosing between 6speed AT and CVT, sa AT ako. based on reviews mas matibay ang conventional na AT.

Buti pa yung isang car ko, less complicated, change oil lang ok na. hehe

Pero I love the cruise control sa Vitara ko.

My CVT, i constantly put it at N at stops, and even while coasting. 145k kms on the odometer now, didn't even fail once.

Ohhh wow.. while coasting on what speed? But still it’s coasting, why you do that? similar to manual to consume less fuel?
but i read it can cause safety issue...

Coasting to a stop. Its more on saving brakes.

    Anyways, i don't condone it.

Coasting on Neutral in an AT car is very bad. The engine will have no control on the rotation of the tires.
