Good enough, especially when compared to other vehicles in this class. I think being lighter than the likes of the Ecosport, Juke, or HR-V helps the engine shine.

I got to drive a Mitsubishi ASX for a short time before and the Vitara compares favorably, despite the ASX having a bigger 2.0 engine. Of course, I won't compare to the XV or diesel compact SUVs like the Tucson or Sportage.

    Responsiveness:
Very responsive. It's a nimble driver and responds well to driver input, although I feel that the steering is a bit on the light side. The Vitara also brakes well; the responsiveness of the ABS saved me when I hard to make a hard brake at NLEX (due to another driver suddenly cutting into my lane three cars ahead and causing everyone behind to slam their brakes).

    Overtaking:
Seems like the automatic gearbox has a great feel for when you want to overtake. A light release of the gas pedal followed by a quick hard tap immediately downshifts a gear for more overtaking power, although it's a bit too sensitive at times.

I'll let others comment on the subject though. I drive rather calmly and don't really overtake unless necessary.
Thank you sir for the response. Now I'm excited getting one 8)

    Hi!

    Good day!

Been backreading for a few pages already, read the answers to most of my questions, not sure if I'll be able to see the answers to my other questions so might as well create an account and just post them. (Sorry if they have been asked before)

With regards to the GLX, Android OS infortainment...
How "android" is it? (Does it have Play Store? Apps like Waze, Spotify, etc. can be installed?)

I know that there is turquoise, red, and orange; I've seen the turquoise and red personally.
But is there a silver, gray or white variant with the two tone on GLX? (just in case. Seen the site, just lists the three above.)

    Thanks!

Some more fuel economy numbers. Maintained 35psi on wheels throughout. Going down to the recommended 35psi reduced fuel economy a little, but I'm still in the 10 km/L range. Still a happy Vitara owner here.

    10.1 km/L, 16kph average speed, 182.3 kms travelled
    9.8 km/L, 15kph average speed, 256.6 kms travelled
    10.0 km/L, 16kph average speed, 87.8 kms travelled
    10.5 km/L, 17kph average speed, 237.9 kms travelled
    16.3 km/L, 40kph average speed, 148.6 kms travelled
    15.7 km/L, 37kph average speed, 393.5 kms travelled

Second to the last entry was a trip from Alabang to Batangas and back via SLEX and STAR Tollway.

Last entry was a trip from Alabang to Cabanatuan and back via Skyway - NLEX - SCTEX (Tarlac exit). We had a number of stops along the way for restroom/meal breaks and found ourselves in an hour-long traffic jam along A. Bonifacio heading into NLEX (going back, we passed by Mindanao Ave and C5 instead).

thanks, men! appreciate you posting your FCs too! ff up question na din

for you and for the rest of the pips who got their new Vitaras: what are your thoughts on its resale value down the line, say 5-7 years? how big of an impact is this on your decision to get the Vitara?

for those who are on out of warranty Suzukis: how's the resale value compared to Hondas or Toyotas?

If you like or love the car buy it. I do my homework in assessing the pros and cons of owning a Vitara GLX. At the moment, I am not thinking of the resale value in 5 years time but enjoying it for for the next 7 years.
Sulit ang presyo ng GLX, best buy for the bucks.

Given how many Filipinos bought cars last year, I can imagine car resale values (in general, and not just the Vitara) would be depressed in the 5-7 years down the line you mentioned. However, Japanese-brand cars tend to have better resale values than other makes here in the Philippines, so you might find some comfort in that. The new Vitara is also made in Hungary; that should also help the resale value later on.

    --

I didn't buy my Vitara with resale value in mind. I just wanted a better car after I sold my Fiesta. I wanted an upgrade, and the Vitara meets that expectation.

I still see a lot of old Vitaras on the roads and have read good things on forums from long-time owners. I intend to keep my Vitara for a while, hopefully for the next ten years or so.

Thanks for sharing bro. QQ: Do you reset the ave fuel everytime you gas up? Or as long as you reset the trip meter, it will be computer automatically?

Ace Hardware at an SM nearest you. Depends on the type of material but it ranges from 2k+ to 3k+ for the size of Vitara. Though for sure there are other cheaper sources out there.
