Bago i-release sa akin yung GL+, they let me talk to the person in charge of their Service Center. I think they told me that it's possible to have the 1k pms, 2 weeks after nung first month kung mababa pa yung kilometrahe.
On another note, I don't think it's possible to start the counting of the car's kilometrage from the release of the OR/CR. Kasi some owners (like me) ginagamit na yung car maski wala pang OR/CR.![]()
The current gen Vitara is also sold in Japan as the Escudo, so I can believe the SA saying that spare parts will come from Japan.
However, since the current gen is so new in the Philippines, give the dealerships a few months to stock up on spare parts. My impression of the dealerships I’ve been to is that they have the essential parts for other Suzuki models. Besides, I haven’t really heard of any owner of the new Vitara needing repairs this early.
I continue to be impressed with the fuel economy rating I'm getting from my 2018 Vitara. There's a billboard along NLEX stating its 20.57 km/L fuel economy rating (based on the DOE's fuel economy run, here), and the figure is achievable.
Apologies in advance for the long post.
Fuel economy stats prior to filling up last Friday: 11.4 km/L, 272 km travelled, 18kph average speed.
Mostly back-and-forth trips along the Skyway (Alabang-Makati, also some Alabang-MoA area through NAIAx) and short trips within the Alabang area. About two-thirds alone; other trips with three passengers. Tried to time my trips just a little before or after rush hour and avoided ground level Skyway (traffic has recently been really heavy towards Bicutan exit; also avoided the usual heavy traffic near Magallanes).
Brought the Vitara to Morong, Bataan last Friday. Fuel economy and thoughts below.
Filled the car with Caltex Silver 91 RON at Caltex Congressional. Route: NLEX - SCTEX - Subic - Morong - Subic - SCTEX - NLEX - EDSA - SLEX - Alabang.
Fuel economy for the trip: 18.7 km/L, 394.1 km travelled, 52kph average speed. Wheels were 37 PSI cold, three passengers plus some bags, aircon set to 23 degrees Celsius, fan on 4 bars (halfway up) during the trip going to Bataan and on 1 bar going back. We made four stops along the way.
I would have achieved much better fuel economy if it weren't for traffic along the Pampanga section of NLEX northbound. It was crawling from San Simon to San Fernando, and then slow from San Fernando all the way to the SCTEX interchange. The average fuel economy reading was at 19.5 km/L before I hit the traffic.
Cruise control actually seemed to hurt fuel economy. I turned it on and set it at 90kph while along SCTEX. While very useful for long stretches of empty roads like SCTEX, the fuel economy reading was at 17.5 km/L while there. Maybe that's because the engine had to work harder while on cruise control during the uphill stretches of SCTEX. I would take my foot off the throttle when I didn't need to be stepping on the gas along NLEX, which of course helped fuel economy. I don't know if the engine did the same while on the downhill/flat portions of SCTEX.
Given all that, 20km/L would have been achievable. Overall, no complaints here.
What rpm was the engine running at 90? It might not be the optimal cruising rpm for the powertrain. For most vehicles, it's usually 80 where the vehicle is most efficient in terms of km/l.
I'm more impressed with your city driving. At 18kph average, 11km/l is rare to achieve for any gas or even diesel-fed vehicle.
11 km/L for 18 kph is definitely impressive.
I've had several 1.6L cars that would only do around 9 km/L with the same average speed.
Suzuki continues to show that a 4AT can still be efficient as long as with the correct gearing.

Nice fuel economy for 91ron..try 95ron next time

Re: gas.. manual says unleaded yet casa’s service supervisor mentioned 95-98ron (i.e. XCS for Petron)..
Unleaded here in the PH goes for plus-minus 91ron only.. so which is which? Are PH’s standards just lower than gas ratings abroad?
Just wondering which is the best fuel for this new Vitara. 🧐

some engines are designed to run best on 95 octane. but the engine's computer can make some adjustments, enabling the engine to run on 91 octane.
because we each have our own personal driving habits and driving routes, each user will have to determine for himself, which octane fuel will give the best or acceptable performance.. which fuel octane will give higher km/li numbers.. which will give a more palpable oomph... which fuel will give the best value for money.
