If its me, I'll just get the 50K discount. And if you need or want, you can use it to purchase a better system from other suppliers.

Sir number001, what other system that will work with steering wheel controls and has navi? Thanks in advance

  5. #1265
For me, you only get the AVT for the GPS and full use of steering wheel controls. Sound isn't as good as pioneer high end models.

I'm not aware of any other HU with GPS, except for a Kenwood variant na mahal (50,000, without GPS module pa). I don't know though if steering wheel controls work.

Yung pioneer models, you can make all steering wheel controls except BT, pero no GPS. Maganda sound though.

    Pick your poison

^although, to be fair, the GPS is compelling enough for me kaya up to now, di pa rin ako maka-decide between getting a pioneer, which has no GPS, or the AVT.

Thank you April_Ryan for the input, I had the avt demo in the showroom yesterday and sound wise it's decent. Is the stock system on the xs bad or livable?

I have the AVT unit and the sound is ok for my untrained ears

And the GPS is extremely useful.

    HTH!

    *vwaudimb,

Stock isn't good. Lalo na for radio. I had my previous car set up by Mickey's Autosound (not high end, very basic, simple set up with pioneer HU, seps, amp and sub) and the difference is discern able when you play CDs or MP3s. Kaya di ako matahimik. Hahaha!

Yung pioneer that I like (avh 8450 yata) is the touchscreen type na din like the AVT but no GPS. With the rear camera, plus all the wirings, panel and steering wheel interface, it comes to about 45K maybe. No seps, amp or sub yet.

Try mo pala fly audio or the china made OEM HU. But I don't know if the latter has one for Subarus.

For me, I would say it's "average" not "bad". But since I'm particular about the sound system, then it's not livable

I think if you're not particular, or you just listen to audiobooks, podcasts, AM stations, occasional MP3s, it's probably livable.

I also have a pioneer 8450 not yet installed but it's going to my Honda jazz.

I just figured warranty wont be void if they install

But 50k more discount sounds good to hard to decide

Topgear's review of the 2.0XS variant:

    VERDICT

The current Forester may be showing its age relative to the new breed of compact SUVs today, but it's still a solid choice for buyers looking for a roomy, fun-to-drive SUV. While it's not the screamer in the Forester lineup, the rest of the package should still satisfy those who can live without the extra power (and cost) of the 2.5XT.

    Congrats!!!

Please join also either of the 2 dedicated Subaru forums in PH: subaru society or subaru club philippines. But don't forget to post here as well, since this is a more mainstream site and we'd like to have plenty of information available to would-be subaru owners as well.

Congrats! What color did you get? And what's the current cash discount? What made you choose the AVT instead of the 50k cash discount?

Why limit with AVT there is FlyAudio which has a very decent display and user interface. Moreso there is surround if you order the one with DSP.

  19. #1279
^Does FlyAudio have GPS built-in as well? I think that's one of the considerations of vwaudimb.

Can you post a pic of the dashboard? I want to see how how the AVT looks like in relation to the layout Yung stock, pati yung font sa display, makaluma. Parang font ng mga nokia phones dati, bago nauso ang mga bagong screens.

Here are my initial impressions on the head unit:

    Pros:
    - Updated GPS system. I just input my destination and it gives very accurate directions. We got lost in Laloma the first time i got the car and the GPS was able to find the way back
    - Easy to navigate iPod connectivity. It can display playlists, songs, artists, albums, etc.
    - Very nice bluetooth connectivity. It shows me all my contacts and call history on screen.
    - Rear camera is great. I can see if I'm going to hit an object or not.

    Cons
    - feels like the touchscreen is resistive instead of capacitive.
    - navigation isn't as smooth as modern smartphones.
    - navigating FM and AM stations are a chore.
