Saw someone post in this thread the 40 km PMS cost P29k which the oil is Motul and costing more than half the total expense, do they have cheaper brand synthetic oil?

How much does it usually cost for your yearly PMS on average? 10, 20, 30km, ....

You can bring your own oil to Subie dealerships. They charge 50 peso corkage per liter of oil you bring. The price per liter of oil at Subi dealerships is 585 per liter (Motul 5w40 or Shell Helix Ultra 5w30). I use the same 5w30 fully synthetic oil for both my Fiesta Ecoboost and Forester XT. I get it from my source at 400 per liter.

I think the most expensive part of the 40k PMS is the CVT fluid. However, Subie SAs told me they change it according to mileage and not according to the age of the vehicle. The CVT tranny requires 12-13L of Subie-specific fluid. If you have not reached 40k KM after 24 months, they will not change the CVT fluid.

For the first year, I spent around 8500 for PMS with my Forester XT plus the cost of oil (4500).

    Hi,

Just got a 2017 Forester last Friday, do you guys experience slight rattle on the dashboard when road is not good? Sometimes it is present sometimes it is not, I could hear it coming near the speedometer and on info display on the middle. Could this be easily fixed? I'm having second thoughts to have it fixed if casa plans to remove the dashboard. TIA.

Hi, just the base variant. I also thought they already sorted out issues from the pre facelift model. Tried pressing the part of the dashboard near the windshield and surprised that it lacks some foam on some areas which causes a gap. Maybe this is where the rattle is coming from. Will try to fill the gap with foam or rubber strip if i could get the chance.

no one beats toyota when it comes to parts, pero subaru is getting there which is partly owed by toyota...plenty of aftermarket stuff as long as you know where to look...unlike toyota, most parts can be had easily

With the low sales of the RAV4 compared to the Forester, I doubt that it will get the same level of parts availability as a Vios or Altis. Camry parts will be easier as it is more common than the current generation RAV4.

The Forester has common parts with the Impreza and XV and WRX.

Maybe they skimp on sound deadening materials for the base model. It seems it is a common issue in other boards.

The joke goes like this - if you can hear rattle, the car stereo is not loud enough.

The Forester will remain a 5-seater. The upcoming Subie 7-seater is the Ascent and it might be powered by a 2.0L turbo engine or the 3.6L H6 NA engine.
