We have the same dilenma. But I settled for the 2.0i. Yun lang abot ng budget.

    To answer your question.

    1. I agree with the other poster. The FS is new and I highly doubt there will be discounts.
    2. I asked this also with my SA. Motor Image is offering a reverse camera but this will be attached not on your head unit but to your rear view window.
    3. Also looking for this option. Sana may makita tayo.

    1. Is there any dealer or distributor that offer discount or better freebies?
    2. Reverse sensor or camera is very important to me. Is there a reverse cam that can be hooked up to the existing multiinformation display at the top middle of the subaru?
    3. Can a HU with screen be install to replace the audio n display? Can I put a GPS on it?

    Thanks so much...

Usually going to Makati I get around 8-9km/l, and coming home I get around 7-8km/l. My first full tank I got 6.86km/l (this is manual computation), and this is with a number of idling (waiting for someone while car is parked but running with aircon), a trip to antipolo (few uphills and downhills), and a really bad trip to Binondo, where traffic that day was one of the worst I've experienced (I was averaging 28L/100km or 3.57km/l in binondo).

Just for today, I averaged 7.93km/l including a 5-8min idling, and bad traffic in Buendia. I think the 2.0i can easily outperform the fuel consumption of the XT.
That's good to know. I had to choose and test drive a lot to finally settle for the forester. My other choice was the CX-5. Would have settled with the CX-5
for the low FC and the 3 years free maintenance but the ride is not as good as the forester. CX-5 also sluggish, you have to press hard for it to move fast.
Wife also complained of tight space in the rear, it's a snug fit for three adults. Can't wait na for the forester...

Sir, if you change the HU to a better model, like a Pioneer with a 7" LCD, you can connect an aftermarket camera to that HU without a problem. You will need a few things to do this though, like buy the Impreza dash panel so the HU will fit sa space since the HU of the Subaru is not a standard 2-din size, it is wider. You will need to get a steering wheel control harness din if you want your steering wheel buttons to work pa rin. Sir Jeff is actually doing this project right now. Here's a sample pic of the Forester with an aftermarket Pioneer HU:

As for GPS, you can get aftermarket GPS nalang siguro like Garmin or Car Navi. Or use your phone/tablet if you have an Android device. This is what I'm doing right now, I just bought an in-cd car mount from ebay so I can place my phone around the center dash. I plan to buy a tablet soon for gps/movies/etc.

It would still really depend on your daily traffic drive and whether you drive aggressively, the FC I am getting is with my normal relaxed driving lang but I don't doubt the 2.0i can outperform it easily sa FC. Also Uly of Carguide mentioned that the Forester 2.0i beats the CX-5 in terms of fuel consumption. I think he said something like on City driving, the Forester comes on top, and on highway, they're both about the same. I didn't test drive the CX-5 but I heard it feels underpowered nga, however, they just announced the AWD Sport version, and it is actually loaded with lots of features na wala sa Forester (i-stop, lane departure, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, 19" wheels, etc) with more power than the base CX-5. I think this is a good alternative to the Forester XT, cheaper too.

Not sure if they give LTO for free rin sir. Kasi for me and others like sir cfule, LTO wasn't given for free, we had to pay for it. The only freebie I got was the tint, and floor mats. The I got a mug and bibigyan din daw ako ng umbrella pero wala pa hanggang ngayon.

Sensors are very cheap nowadays, you can even get one from CDRKING, but if you want better brands, meron rin. I don't recommend the rear view mirror back up camera, masyadong maliit na yun, hard to see. If you have plans on upgrading your HU naman talaga, just connect the rear camera there. I wanted sensors din, but I'm not sure kung pwede ikabit sa black portion nung bumper, panget kasi kung ilalagay yung sensor dun sa colored area ng bumper. I always thought dapat kasama na ito sa Forester.

hi stan, sorry to hear that.. which dealer did you have your XT done? did you complain about the scratches in the interior?

I'm quite wary of letting them dismantle the car section by section to find the rattling sound, kasi the more they dismantle, the more chances din of more rattling sounds pag hindi maayos ang pagkakakabit.

Also, I noticed when I had them re-align my HU (since hindi maayos pagkakainstall), na ang dami bagong gasgas nung interior ko, these guys won't take care of your unit, new or not. Para sa kanila, magawa lang nila yung trabaho, no extra care will be taken to ensure proper handling. Nagkaron ng gasgas yung silver pillar sa center panel natanggal yung kulay, and yung sa may shifter, the black glossy part, nagkaron ng deep na gasgas na hindi matanggal. When they were test driving the car, iniwan lang yung key fob sa may MFD display, eh merong transparent plastic na cover yun na hindi mo mapapansin to protect the LCD, leaving the car key there while driving will guarantee scratches din sa plastic cover.

I don't have any problem with the speakers though, baka hindi ako yung nabasa mo. I actually like the sounds coming from the Harman Kardon system, even the bass, I did not expect it to have a bass but on certain mp3s, you can feel the vibration and the thump, of course not as powerful as yung aftermarket, but good enough for me

hi alvin, i'm not sure if different dealers offer different discount packages.. my personal experience in MI greenhills is that i was supposed to get the insurance outside and they ended up matching the price instead just so i could get their insurance in-house. surprisingly, they gave me free LTO as well (only knew about this on the day i picked up my car)..

reverse sensor i think MI can install one on your unit for 7K (this is from another user in another forum).. MI i think also has a stock HU unit with LCD display hooked up to a rearview camera.. if i remember i think they're offering it for around 60k..

i'm trying to go the aftermarket route in have a pioneer HU installed instead but i need some parts (like wiring harnesses, steering wheel interface) which i'm still ordering from the US, i haven't bought them yet and in the process of ordering them

MI did not bring the previous gen Forester turbodiesel here so maybe they don't plan to bring over the new turbodiesel model, unless they change their minds and try to compete in the diesel-powered CUV market.

2.0T is 2.0 liter turbo, correct? If so then they are selling the 2L turbo XT here already.

Hi Jeff, my dealer is Subaru Alabang. They offered me the unit first kasi, then few days later Subaru Greenhills offered me one as well. Now that you mentioned Greenhills gave you the LTO for free, I should've gotten my Forester from them nalang sana.

Anyway, I didn't complain about the scratches anymore because when I got the car, madilim kasi sa service area nila and medyo late na rin. I only saw it when I was driving na. I might still go back though to have the rattling sound checked, it can really get irritating while driving, but will tell them to take extra care of the car since bago pa.

How's your HU project? You ordered the harnesses already?

Hi all! Just got my Forester 2.0 XT yesterday. I was also given free LTO by MI Greenhills. The car is great, except that I hear a knocking sound somewhere from the front everytime I drive down from a raised part of the road (like when you leave from a gas station going down to the pavement). Has anybody ever had this experience?

Jeff balitaan mo kami if ever successful yung HU project mo. Breakdown na din the cost. I'm sure it will help others with their HU also.

Hi stan, I'm still waiting for svxdc's reply eh.. We had a couple of email exchanges na and told him the items i will be ordering from him, I'm just waiting for his price confirmation now.

Yah you definitely have to have the rattling checked. Baka pwede mo insist na change unit na lang if hinde nila mahanap hehe.

Sir might be a good idea to return to the dealer and have it checked...I don't think there should be any knocking sound at all

The new Forester was released early this year, around March.
