Anyone seen UFC 104 a while ago? Not a fan of the 2 guys in the main event, but I was really pissed when Bruce Buffer said "Lyoto....."
How did those stupid judges scored those rounds? Even the champ thinks he lost, it's clearly seen on his face. So much for boxing guys dissing MMA. Set aside the beating Lyoto took, I believe Shogun landed more shots and 48-47 UD was a total joke
And Lyoto recently said he wants Brock Lesnar![]()
much like the refs (afaik), the judges in the ufc are commissioned by the california state athletic commission (CSAC). so the ufc has no control over them. nevertheless they were stupid in favoring machida.
saw this one over * an mma forum:
i think the csac or ufc should look for more qualified judges, those who are more learned in mma. even dana white thought rua won and he did right when he said there will be an immediate rematch for the two.I would like to voice a complaint about the judging of Nelson Hamilton, Cecil Peoples and Marcos Rosales at UFC 104 on October 24, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
All three judges scored the main event between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua 48-47 for Machida.
This decision demonstrates a clear lack of competence on behalf of the judges, as they appear to be the only three people who scored the fight for Machida.
Professional analysts scored the bout unanimously for Rua:
FightMetric: 49-47 Rua
Yahoo Sports / Cagewriter: 48-47 Rua
BloodyElbow : 48-47 Rua
USAToday: 48-47 Rua, 49-46 Rua
ESPN / Jake Rossen: 49-46 or 48-47 Rua
MMA Fanhouse / Michael David Smith: 48-47 Rua
CagePotato: 49-46 Rua
MMATorch : 48-47 Rua
MMAJunkie : 49-46 or 48-47 Rua
MMAMania : 50-45 Rua
5 Ounces of Pain : Rua (no score given)
Fightlinker : Rua (no score given)
ProMMA.Info: 50-45 Rua
Sherdog.com / Jordan Breen: 48-47 Rua
Sherdog.com / Brian Knapp: 48-47 Rua
Sherdog.com / Mike Fridley: 50-45 Rua
I am not aware of a single professional analyst who agreed with the official decision.
According to the FightMetric analysis, Rua outstruck Machida by nearly two to one (82-42 strikes landed). He was also the aggressor for the majority of the fight, demonstrating the "octagon control" that is supposed to be factored into the judges' scoring. At the fight's conclusion, Machida exhibited serious swelling on the thigh and ribs, and cuts to his face. Rua sustained no significant damage.
Rua's employer and peers also agree that he should have been awarded the victory. At the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White and UFC fighters Joe Stevenson and Anthony Johnson all agreed that Rua deserved the win. Additionally, the crowd at the Staples Center expressed extreme displeasure over the decision, despite favoring Machida before the bout.
Clearly, Mauricio Rua was the rightful winner of the main event at UFC 104. I urge you to review the credentials and performances of Hamilton, Rosales and Peoples, and to consider replacing them with more competent judges.
Sincerely,
A concerned fan.
From Kevin Iole
Can't blame Shogun for not trying to knock out Machida (in rounds 4-5), Machida was obviously hurt - magang maga ung left leg and midsection. Ako din I thought Shogun already had it before the opening of R5 when I heard his corner. I think if he got just about 1 takedown, it would've had made those 3 idiot scorers see things diffrently. The men who should be facing the wrath of those who felt Rua had won should not be Hamilton, Peoples and Rosales, who rendered their opinions in a very technical, taut affair. Rather, Rua supporters should be angry at his corner men, who continually told him he was well ahead.
Rua said he didn't press the action in the final two rounds because his corner had told him he was in control. If that's true, it's that advice that cost him the fight. And it's always the worst kind of advice to give a fighter in any match, but particularly a technical fight like Machida-Rua.
And while many disagree with the judges, their decision is at least defensible. ...
This was a fight that was there for Rua to win and he simply didn't win it. Had the decision gone Rua's way, Machida couldn't have complained, because there was little to choose from in many of the rounds. It was a very close fight and a case could be made for either man in most of the rounds.
He was clearly robbed, and the rematch should BE new champion vs. former champion. I never felt this bad for a fighter. It was like watching PBA. Sad to say it can't be overruled, fans just have to live with it.
EDIT: Machida karate sucks. Joe Rogan made a very big mistake when he said "welcome to the Machida era" after he KO'd Evans. It was Machida error. Karate sucks

David slays Goliath
Haye slays giant Valuev to claim WBA heavyweight title
Agence France-Presse | 11/08/2009 8:36 AM
NUREMBERG - British challenger David Haye claimed the WBA heavyweight title on Saturday with a shock majority decision win against Russian giant Nikolai Valuev.
The 29-year-old from London is the new world champion after only three heavyweight fights, having stepped up from cruiserweight as the judges scored the 12-round fight 114-114 even, 116-112 and 116-112 in Haye's favour.
"Ever since I was little, I said that one day I would be heavyweight champion of the world," said Haye.
With superior footwork, Haye kept moving away from the Russian's close-range punches and denied the 2.13m Valuev the chance to hang on and wear him down with his sheer size.
This was only Valuev's second defeat - after losing to Ruslan Chagaev in April 2007 - and Haye gave away seven stones (44kg) in weight against the Russian and was 23cm shorter than the former champion.
Haye made a bright start, looking for weaknesses in Valuev's defence and landed several shots to the upper body and one to the face while the Russian giant took up his usual position shuffling around the middle of the ring.
There was a flurry of punches thrown towards the end of the second and Valuev stepped up at the start of the third, but it was Haye who caught the Russian with a quick left, right.
The Russian started the fourth with a mark to his right cheek and attempted to put Haye in the corner, but the Briton again wriggled out of danger, landed an arcing left-hook and kept moving to avoid the close-range punches.
With Valuev throwing countless punches, but landing few, Haye caught the Russian with another right, left, right combination in the fifth.
A heavy left to the side of the face from Haye caught Valuev before he followed up with a left, right combination at the start of the seventh while the Russian caught the challenger with several punches to shade the round.
With his corner urging him not to drop his pace to that of the slower Russian, Haye was starting to tire in the eighth as his opponent's sheer size started to show signs of wearing him down.
A left hook got through Valuev's guard in the ninth before Haye caught the Russian with a roundhouse right flush in the face and a big right-hook in the tenth rocked Valuev backwards, but the Russian was landing several of his own.
The decisive blows came in the twelfth round when Haye's two left-hooks wobbled Valuev as the Briton finished with a flourish and Haye punched the air with delight at the final bell.
Valuev's last knock-out was against Monte Barrett in October 2006 and he never looked like putting the Briton on the canvas, while Haye had only two heavyweight fights, with wins against Monte Barrett and Tomasz Bonin, before landing the world title.
Valuev now two defeats, 50 wins with 34 knock-outs and a non-contest from 1999 on his record, while Haye has 23 wins, 21 knock-outs and a single defeat to Carl Thompson at cruiserweight on his 24 fight record.

Eto full fightwalang dating lang ung announcer, grabe parang announcer ng UAAP/NCAA. The commentators reminded me of Pride. He actually made a good choice by signing with Strikeforce, cleanout the HW division there and hopefully he signs with UFC afterwards.
