40th win for Klitschko with Sosnowski KO

GELSENKIRCHEN - World WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko picked up the 40th win and 38th knock-out of his career with a tenth-round victory over challenger Albert Sosnowski here on Saturday.
Klitschko knocked out European heavyweight champion Sosnowski, 21, at the Veltins Arena, home of Bundesliga football side Schalke 04, and this was the fourth defense for the 38-year-old of the WBC title he won in October 2008.
"I was in good form, Sosnowski was younger than me, but people saw that I did well against him," said Klitschko.
"He did everything to win this fight, but my experience got me through."
Klitschko said his next opponents are likely to be Britain's WBA heavyweight champion David Haye or former champ Ruslan Chagaev.
"I am a bit disappointed, because I thought I had a good chance of winning this fight," said Sosnowski, who recovered from the punch which sent him slumping to the canvas.
"I am okay now, it was a hard punch, but I was also quite tired and I just didn't have the energy to get up.
"I am grateful for this fight and I hope to have another shot at the title in future."
Keeping his guard low, Klitschko repeatedly pawed the Polish challenger in the opening rounds with Sosnowski, 13 centimetres shorter and 23 pounds lighter than his opponent, looking to land early punches on the champion.
Klitschko was not looking as physically prepared as usual and stayed mainly in the centre of the ring allowing the challenger to connect with the Ukrainian's chin in the fourth round.
The Ukrainian started to make his advantage count with a combination of punches in the fifth round and again in the sixth.
Sosnowski started landing some telling punches and made some progress against the champion in the seventh and eighth rounds as Klitschko seemed to tire.
But the Ukrainian finished the ninth round strongly, caught Sosnowski across the face and then pinned him to the ropes with a flurry of punches, but the bell saved the Polish fighter.
Sosnowski signalled to the crowd, but he looked wobbly at the start of the tenth and a big right opened a cut above his left eye and sent him slumping to the canvas with 29 seconds left of the round.

cotto vs. foreman this weekend. if cotto wins and no mayweather fight for manny, we might just see cotto vs pac 2 for the jr. middleweight belt (a record 8th title in 8 diff. weight classes for pac if he wins)

    panalo si cotto.

as reported by pac media person, ronnie nathanielsz:
Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz told BoxingScene.com that on the way back to their hotel, after watching the fight with Pacquiao and his lovely wife Jinkee, they “had a minor discussion” about a possible rematch with Cotto.

A rematch for the super welterweight title at 154 pounds would give Pacquiao a chance to cement his place in the record books by winning an eighth world title in eight separate weight divisions, should Pacquiao win a rematch having won the WBO welterweight title with a 12th round TKO over Cotto last November.

Koncz said the idea is “to see what happens” adding that “if the Mayweather fight is not made then we’ll go to plan B” which could mean a fight against Antonio Margarito, Cotto or even Juan Manuel Marquez who has been crying out for a third and last shot at Pacquiao with whom Marquez salvaged a draw in their first meeting after being dropped three times in the first round and lost the rematch by a split decision after being dropped once more in the fourth round.
plan b na si cotto. it's all about the $$$

The best of Canada trains with the best of the Philippines. UFC Champ George St. Pierre visits and trains with Manny Pacquiao. Sayang, hindi nagsparring: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRhCc1CF2CU"]YouTube - GEORGE ST. PIERRE & MANNY PACQUIAO TRAINING TOGETHER IN MANILA, PHILIPPINES[/ame]

Tingin nyo ba Pacquiao is the greatest boxer ever?
kapag nanalo siya kay margarito, 8-time world champion na siya in 8 different divisions. pero parang 6 lang para sa akin. kasi ung 147lbs. cut-off weight para sa welterweight (against cotto) ginawa nyang 145 para ma-even off-set yung power ni cotto. and then yung fight kay margarito is set at a catchweight at 151lbs. (154lbs ang cut-off weight ng jr. middleweight). and yet title fight pa din yung laban nila. parang nawalan ng freedom ung boxer to fight at a weight designated by the boxing body (WBC, WBO, IBF, etc.). Hindi siya takot kahit kanino, pero pinapahina nya dahil sa catchweight. para sa akin it makes no sense kasi binabalewala nila yung original weight set by the boxing organization.

idol ko si pacman. pero i think it would be better kung hindi siya nagseset ng catchweight. lumalabas kasi, money does the talking, not the boxers' skills and fists.
