the sad thing is, i think after this month's women's world cup, he'll be likely go back to australia just because he made a near miraculous turn around of the fortunes of the Filipinas. a lot of teams in their ladies pro league are salivating for his services.

short answer is : the Filipino diaspora.

like i said in the fifa world cup thread kanina lang - and i quote:

well, re the half pinoys, their pinay citizenship were vetted and put under intense scrutiny by fifa and most especially our vindictive asean and asian neighbors (nagsimula iyan dahil we were slowly becoming a force to reckon with about 6 years ago sa sea and afc games). and sarili nilang effort iyong kumuha ng Ph passport kasi during that time limited talaga resources ng women's national team. a number of them even had to hire immigration lawyers on their own dime because, more often than not, whenever they inquired about how to go about getting Ph passports, our embassies would be giving conflicting answers to their queries or worse, be given the bureaucratic run around.

halos wala naman iyan pinagkaiba sa chinese, korean, indian etc mass immigration stories. the only outlier i guess is ultimately these half-pinays want to represent their land of heritage after being introduced (or reintroduced) to it. you don't see that much often w/ other immigrant peeps who have lived in their adopted countries for several generations. and i guess it helps na our citizenship rules are more "open" compared to other nations.
