whats your take on giant revel naman sir? nagsearch ako sa internet about revel dami pala version. may 1,2,3 etc. yung nakita ko kanina is white and blue combi for 22k diko lang alam anong variant yun, diko natanong e.
ah peerless? di ba folding bike yan?

okay naman giant revel. yung various version niya will have the same frame, albeit different groupsets and wheels, and of course different frame colors to denote lang the level.

here is the level of shimano groupset for mtb
    xtr
    xt
    lx/slx
    deore
    alivio
    non series

xtr being the highest. the higher up you go the less weight and better shifting. deore is already good since shares some features of the higher models, sa alivio walang 9speed. 8speed lang maximum nito.

i use combination of deore, lx and xt parts on my xc bike, pwede naman mix and match basta parehas lahat ng speed

    + 1000 miles ako diyan :-)

Kagandahan sa MTBs, they are "Ride Anywhere, Anytime Bikes".
And yes, I'll ride my bikes "hanggang kaya pang pumidal". :bike:

Hardtails are great rides. They are like overgrown BMX bikes.
Mas magaan talagang dalhin at madaling "iwasiwas" hehehe.
I'll use one for epic/long rides, just don't make me ride it with a rigid fork.

Yup, newest/latest grupos now have 10 speed till deore, while alivio is now at 9 speed. Xt and slx now even have the clutch type rear derailleur that xtr has.

hehe sorry my bad, didnt know alivio has 9 speed already, but should be the natural progression since deore and above are 10 spd now.

really not fan of 10speed, 9x2 is enough. guess shimano and sram are caught in the gear race just like cameras with their pixel race.

clutch type? what for? changing gears without pedaling?

i know honda pioneered this with their successful rn01 dh bike

Oo nga miLes, misleading/misnomer yung ginagamit ng SRAM at shimano dun sa clutch type. Purpose Lang nya ay to prevent/reduce chain slap/chain suck. More for protecting carbon fibre chainstays.

I'm using one right now, mas silent ang takbo at reduced and chain slap, although medyo mas matigas na yung shifter ko sa rear. Now I can sneak past my friends and protect my tomac supermatic frame, hehehe

ah i see, pwede naman lagyan ng chainstay protector and chain catcher. but i do love silent drivetrain, for me sign yan ng efficiency if sobrang tahimik ng chain and shifting, but i love noisy hubs hehe

kainis lang, for those not wanting to upgrade to 10spd, hirap na maghanap ng 9 speed xt or deore derailluers, shifters

When you say groupset, whats included in it? derailleurs (front & rear), shifters & brakes? ano pa po?

Guys, anybody here knows how to replace those oilseals sa front shocks?

Links, tips, tricks, etc. are most welcome.

I was cleaning my bike this afternoon when I noticed oil coming out of the shock boots.

    TIA.

*lowslowbenz, ano fork mo? Fox, SRAM and SR Suntour have videos on YouTube that might help you.

Hehehe, oo nga pala, upgrade-titis is an all year round na sakit. Check mo din 11 speed ng SRAM (they call it xx1, and I think they are going to implement it downstream their grupo). This will require drivetrain changes (1x11 sya) with thinner chain (and alternate chain link thickness) and proprietary rear hub design to accommodate 11 speed at the rear. Rear derailleur is also vertically hoisted. This was designed for 29'ers and some 650b (26.5er?) are already adopting it.

Wow. You all have very nice mountain bikes. If I have time, I would have bought one or two. We have all forms of bike trails around my area but I much prefer a road bike. Sadly, my bike now sleeps in storage. It is a french made Look 576 with complete Shimano Ultegra parts. Will post pics in a road bike thread if any?
