Looking to buy a hardtail in the 35k range. Preferably white Merida frame, Epicon fork and Deore groupset.
Baka may alam kayo na secondhand - size 15.5 or 16 ako. If secondhand, budget ko 30k below.
Thanks

Finally completed my bike shopping and parts transplant, and I can say that it was worth it.
Originally, I was supposed to assemble a bike with a Giant XTC frame, Deore groupset, Epicon fork, and generic everything else for 38k. I backed out at the last minute (they were about to assemble the bike) because I wasn't feeling the frame that much.
I decided to turn to OLX instead - and found 2 good deals. After some swapping at my local bike shop, I now have 2 bikes with the ff. specs:
Main Bike:
- Merida TFS 1000 frame
- Shimano SLX 2x10 groupset
- Suntour Epicon X1 fork
- Shimano MT55 wheelset
- Kenda Small Block 8 tires
- ABR cockpit/seatpost
- Exustar aluminum pedals
- S'Trace Thor saddle
- Jagwire cables
Bike 2:
- Merida Matts 70 frame
- Shimano Alivio 3x9 groupset
- Rockshox Tora SL fork
- Alexrims XD-lite wheelset
- Geax Saguaro front tire
- Schwalbe Racing Ralph rear tire
- Truvativ cockpit/seatpost
- Exustar aluminum pedals
- Velo saddle
Pic taken before parts were switched
These bikes would've cost roughly 45k and 35k, respectively. All-in-all, I only spent 56k including gas, toll, and labor costs already. After road testing both bikes and having them tuned at the bike shop, we didn't find a single problem. I don't see the value of buying brand new anymore if you can find perfectly working bikes at lower prices. Sulit!

any online shop in ph that i can look at for parts prices?..sa pinoymtb parang useless ka magtanong sa mga sponsors..walang kwenta hindi sumasagot...

Never pa ko hindi sinagot pag tumatawag ako sa King's Bike Shop or sa Cristy's. Just make sure you call them during operating hours.
There are no online bike shops but a lot of bike shops with FB pages. However, their catalogues are mostly built bikes - for individual components you will still have to call them.

^ napansin ko lang sa PH they use their MTB mostly sa road...here in AU, ni minsan wala ako nakitang nagbibike sa road using a MTB, mostly hybrid and road bike ang nakikita ko..
my mtb is almost a month old and diko pa nagagamit..tinamaan ako ng upgrade decease..heheh..pag upgraded na saka ko lang isasabak sa trail..
one of my friend invited me for a 100km run ..and this is 100% offroad...

Maganda kasi daan diyan sa AU.
My roadie friends get punctures way more often than I do, ang dami kasing lubak dito.
Also, most people here only have one bike - whether for trail or for road. You can use your MTB on the road, but not your roadie on a trail. Maraming PATW dito.
Lastly, and I'm not privy if this subculture is also present elsewhere, marami rin dito bibili lang ng bike as luho pero hindi naman pinaninindigan ang pagbibike. So they just buy for porma and most people find MTBs more maporma.
Think of it as getting an SUV but never using it off-road: they use it for the durability and ruggedness, even in the urban jungle which isn't as smooth as you think.

Bakit hindi mo muna isabak sa trail bago ka mag upgrade. So sa ganon mas ma appreciate mo yung upgrade mo. Well kung may pera naman eh high end na agad. But syempre dapat high end din tuhod mo.

upgrading parts is fun for me..parang kotse lang yan, you put racing wheels, boom boom sound system etc..
and i want to start with a good equipment, di naman ako bibili ng worth $10,000 bike..
atat na atat na nga ako to hit a trail

I agree. In biking (or any sport), I believe in maximizing low end gear first by improving yourself, before upgrading.
Of course, people who have money go straight to the high-end stuff, and that's absolutely fine. Hopefully, they also work towards having the skills to maximize their bikes. Mas impressive for me yung karpintero na hayop pumadyak kaysa yung naka XT at Fox pero lalampa lampa at ang laki ng tiyan.
Isa pang di ko maintindihan yung mga weight weenie na matataba. Instead of spending tens of thousands to save 500g, why not lose the belly. That way, you save yourself some money and reduce risk of disease.
I avoid the upgrade itch by reminding myself that my bike is already way too much for my current skill level. Instead of pondering over the next upgrade, I try to focus on biking more to develop strength, endurance, and handling skills.
