IgG is not necessarily from sarscov2. It maybe produced by recent infection from other diseases or viruses.

    IgGs are also specific.
i do not expect the IgG of sarscov to be significantly effective against other viruses.
neither would i expect the IgG of smallpox to be effective against sarscov.

the SARSCOV2 antibody test is supposed to be specific to antibodies for SARCOV2

pag high specificity ang test kit it should only pick up antibodies to SARSCOV2 (it will ignore antibodies to other viruses)

if the test kit has low specificity then it could pick up antibodies to other coronaviruses

sino ba ang nagkakalat ng cross-reactivity ng mga immunoglobulinis among un-related viruses?

    wala nagkakalat

    it happens

here's Roche talking about their Elecsys antibody test

Even Roche uses the terms "false negative" and "false positive" which you hate

na-sermon mu na ako for using those terms

you prefer the terms "reactive" and "non-reactive"

If I had the chance il take photo of the rapid testkit for you to check if it is covid specific or not. Our rapid test room is very strict no camera or phone allowed inside.

we cannot tell from a photo if the test kit is high specificity or not

an antibody test cassette only shows lines -- control, IGM, IGG

ung specificity nasa quality ng raw material na ginamit sa pag manufacture ng test kit

dito sa Pinas very popular ung Innovita brand

Deestone alam mo ba anong brand ng test kit gamit niyo?

why are the 17 accredited laboratories non-functional?
The latest on their website is July 29. I guess 2 days late ang ratio. Maybe that's the reason why can't they include it in everyday report.

    ah ok.
akala ko kasi, may nagsasadyang nagkakalat ng paninirang-puri...

    in my view,
that link is a finely-worded statement. personally, it comes on to me as an "infomercial".
it makes it subconsciously appear to the un-guarded layman-reader, that only they are taking mind-boggling steps, at ensuring their product is free of cross-reactivities.
what it intentionally does not mention, is that every decent manufacturer worthy of their test tubes, may be doing their similar best, at coming up with their quality product.

the test itself may be good,
but if the harvesting of the specimen is inadequate or the sample obtained or processed of is questionable quality...

hey! it's been only 9 months. marami pa tayong hindi alam tungkol covid.

So may sub-class din ba ang IgG?

The five subclasses of antibodies are:

Immunoglobulin A (IgA), which is found in high concentrations in the mucous membranes, particularly those lining the respiratory passages and gastrointestinal tract, as well as in saliva and tears.

Immunoglobulin G (IgG), the most abundant type of antibody, is found in all body fluids and protects against bacterial and viral infections.

Immunoglobulin M (IgM), which is found mainly in the blood and lymph fluid, is the first antibody to be made by the body to fight a new infection.

Immunoglobulin E (IgE), which is associated mainly with allergic reactions (when the immune system overreacts to environmental antigens such as pollen or pet dander). It is found in the lungs, skin, and mucous membranes.

Immunoglobulin D (IgD), which exists in small amounts in the blood, is the least understood antibody.

pneumonia means, inflammation of the lungs.
there are many causes of pneumonia... viruses, bacteria, fungi, chemicals, etc.

the pneumonia vaccine is supposed to protect you from several types of microbiologic agents..
but it will not protect you from covid pneumonia and other microbiological agents not included in your pneumonia shot.

then, there is the condition known as "immunocompromise".
if the covid weakens your immune system, diseases you were initially immunized against might catch on and cause complicating illness.

so, in answer to your question.
you can still get pneumonia after your pneumonia shot, but the likelihood of it being one of those included in the pneumonia shot, is less likely.

Correct doc. I know people who don’t care to wear face masks because they they think they did have “flu shots”. [emoji47]
