because it is in the best interest of a certain politician (Trump) to have a vaccine approved before election to boost his chances of winning

    (Operation Warp Speed)

that incumbent politician is using gov't money to speed up vaccine development (Moderna got $483M in gov't funding)

after clinical trials, the US agency in charge of approving the vaccine will be under intense pressure to do so

that is why the market (+ me) is very confident a vaccine will be approved before Nov

And it is also in the best interest of ego-centric Trump to have a vaccine approved under his watch

coz that will make him look like a hero

that is what the market (+ me) is betting on

when you're testing something, you need a control group as reference to see if what you're testing is effective

so you have 4 countries that are in many ways quite similar to each other

3 of them implemented restrictions while 1 of them just let the virus spread

presenting Sweden -- the control group

If Trump can come out with an EFFECTIVE vaccine that will eradicate the China virus, he will have my support for the rest of his term. Erase na lahat ng douchebaggery niya if he will be instrumental in having our lives return to normal.

a local politician probably also thought he was doing the populace a favor... until it blew up and hit the fan...

    unfortunately,
    when it comes to vaccines,
having the will and the money, does not automatically guarantee Qapla (success).
personally, i hope he succeeds in making the vaccine a reality. the angge (of the vaccine) will be most welcome.

what can a politician of a 3rd world country do in the grand scheme of things?

like du30 offered P50,000,000 to anyone who can come up with a vaccine

    in this country?

correct me if i'm wrong... meron ba tayo biotech/pharma na nagdedevelop ng vaccine dito?

kahit 100 million o 1 billion pa yan wala naman mangyayari coz PH doesn't have the technical knowhow

hanggang virgin coconut oil lang tayo

in this instance, a segment of his interest and rest of the world's, are running in parallel.

oh yeah that large scale clinical trial conducted by a big foreign pharma company which the gov't disguised as a mass vaccination program (pampapogi) just before election

the devil is in the details.
sometimes, these details render the objective un-attainable.

as some have voiced out, "the economy can not take another ECQ".
some advocate, "go sweden at bahala na si batman". some writers say 'we worry too much about nothing'. and their research does seem to back their words.
    batman... that's ironic.. bats.. covid..

it will take a lot for the gov't lock down NCR again

a whole lot more than 500 to 1000 new confirmed cases per day

it will take overwhelmed hospitals and people dropping dead in public

where the head of the big foreign pharma met with our leader abroad para humingi ng permission mag conduct ng large clinical trial and a lightbulb appeared above our leader's head "Yeah and we can make it look like a free vaccination program! People will appreciate it and remember us come election"

had the denggoyvaxia succeeded, we would probably be singing a different song right now.

    thinking back,
even the local so-called experts at that time, were not universal in their learned beliefs. the Leader unfortunately leaned toward the one side that time subsequently showed to be the flawed side.

thinking back, the safest way would have been to sit and wait for developments, before committing our children. but as it was election time or whatever deadline they were pressuring themselves into...

i am just so happy, that i am not the person who would be having to decide the decision.

even now, we have to heed two equally important but opposing phrases,
    "patience is a virtue", and
    "no guts, no glory".

    OT.
    balik-corona na tayo.
