I think it's just a matter of timing. Mid March pa lang ramp up na COVID cases nila, so by now the people will be recovered already. Our cases only started ramping up mid April. With luck we'll have recoveries ramping up in the next few weeks.

might be all asymptomatic cases are staying/treated in their hospital not just isolated somewhere.

(UPDATE) Inamin ng pamunuan ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) na naapektuhan ang kanilang operasyon matapos magpositibo sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) ang 43 nilang tauhan.

Kung dati ay kinakaya umano ng RITM na magsagawa ng 1,000 hanggang 2,000 test kada araw, bumaba ang testing capacity nito sa 200 hanggang 300.

Pero sabi ngayong Martes ng Department of Health (DOH) na naibalik na ang testing capacity ng RITM sa 1,200.

Ang RITM sa Muntinlupa ang nangungunang pasilidad sa pagsasagawa ng COVID-19 testing.

Ayon kay RITM Director Celia Carlos, posibleng nagsimula sa isang empleyado ang virus na kumalat sa iba pa.

Nasa 800 hanggang 900 tauhan ng RITM din ang nagpa-test para sa COVID-19.

"'Yung first case namin encoder sya. So wala siyang exposure sa lab, wala siyang exposure sa patient. So ang suspect namin community-acquired siya," aniya.

Tiniyak din ni Carlos na hindi sila titigil sa pagte-test at kakayanin din nilang matapos ang 5,000 backlog.

Ayon naman kay Health Secretary Rosario Vergeire, bumagal na ang "doubling time" ng virus o iyong oras kung saan dumodoble ang bilang ng mga kaso.

Dati, kada 3 araw dumodoble ang bilang ng nagpopositibo sa sakit pero ngayon ay 5 araw na.

Aminado si Vergeire na dapat talaga ay hindi mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang virus na makahawa at makapatay pa.

Umabot nitong Martes sa 6,599 ang bilang ng mga positibong kaso ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas matapos makapagtala ng 140 bagong kaso. -- Ulat ni Raphael Bosano, ABS-CBN News

Hindi naman basta may pera ka at pambili ng test kits, eh kaya na mag-test.

Kelangan din ng mamahaling equipment to process the samples at ang pinaka-importante yung taong may skill to process the sample.

Do all med techs know how to use PCR machine (or whatever they call it)? AFAIK, only those doing genetic lab work knows how to use it.

They are dealing with live viruses, they need properly sealed laboratories. Hindi naman yan parang mga labs ng hi-precision. Kaya mabagal accreditation kasi they need to make sure na up to standards yung bio-security ng lab.
