I'm a agricultural engineer and we are very well versed in epidemics and pandemics. We are on the front lines in the war against avian flu, swine flu, anthrax, listeria and e coli. I'm thinking the cases in Australia are the exception and not the rule due to Australias close proximity to Asia. But what I think is more telling is the lack of corvid19 activity in Africa, Mexico, Central America and South America. As we all know, corvid19 is a corona virus as is avian flu, swine flu, the yearly flu, virual pneumonia and common cold. Most corona viruses do not do well in warm weather. Due to the lack of activity in Africa Central and South America I'm thinking its true of this one too.

The other thing I find interesting but have no explanation for is why is this disease virtually unheard of in India? I don't understand that one myself.

Due to this as well as the steps our government is taking, by August this is going to be a foot note in history.

Well from your post you aren't well versed in anything to do with any virus, so much for you agricultural engineers.

Cases in Africa are low....right now....because people haven't traveled into China and back. Mexico's numbers are set to explode.

Nakakatakot what might happen or is already happening in Rockwell since majority living there are ELDERLY folks. If you have relatives there, should you consider taking them out?

Metro Manila would be placed under curfew from 8 pm to 5 am, after Local Legislative Councils in the capital region pass the needed curfew ordinances to enforce it, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.

DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said on Saturday, March 14, that the ordinances were expected to be passed on Monday, March 16.

Malaya made the clarification in response to reporters' questions on Saturday, March 14, after Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Jojo Garcia said in a news briefing that the curfew would coincide with the region-wide lockdown and begin on Sunday, March 15.

"The legal basis for the curfew are the ordinances, and the mayors agreed to issue these on Monday," Malaya said.

Garcia said that the Metro Manila Council (MMC), which has among its members the 17 Metro Manila mayors, approved the curfew proposal to be imposed beginning Sunday.
LGUs need to pass an ordinance to enforce the curfew.

We've had one case so far in our city. That person had only mild symptoms and already recovered.

Infected people without symptoms might be driving the spread of coronavirus more than we realized - CNN

"There is also strong evidence that it can be transmitted by people who are just mildly ill or even presymptomatic. That means COVID-19 will be much harder to contain than the Middle East respiratory syndrome or severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which were spread much less efficiently and only by symptomatic people,"

It looks like those temperature checks are useless in trying to contain the spread. We may need to change our policies for the lockdown.

well, we have a lockdown... of sorts.
the basic instruction of the lockdown, is to stay at home, symptoms or not.
    it's difficult, but.
the compromises and our own hard-headedness... will probably be our un-doing.

yes that has been established weeks ago

that's why this virus spreads more easily than SARS-1

with SARS-1, it's contagious when there are symptoms so carriers can be identified and isolated

ito naman nakakahawa kahit wala symptoms AND 14 day incubation

so carriers feel healthy they can go everywhere

and with the help of 21st century air travel the virus traveled the world fast
