but boosting increases the population of B cells that bind to wild-type variant (which is the original variant which all current vaccines are designed to target)

it just so happens there's still cross-reactivity left against omicron

One influential model uses those factors and others to estimate that 73% of Americans are, for now, immune to omicron, the dominant variant, and that could rise to 80% by mid-March.
