typhoid is typically spread via the "oral-fecal route", as well as in close contact situations.
while diarrhea is mentioned in many a laymen's literature, the truth is that not all typhoid victims have diarrhea.
other manifestations include fever, constipation, headache, and abdominal pain. but in varying levels of severity, of course.
up to 6 percent of typhoid infections remain asymptomatic.
laymen's literature would uniformly list down the symptoms, and readers would misunderstand into believing that all victims will show all these syjmptoms.
the truth of the matter, is that there is great diversity in how victims show symptoms and manifestations.
so how is it that physicians can pick up the disease, even as the signs and symptoms are in-complete?
"experience and insight."
i daresay, a filipino doctor can pick up typhoid here, better than an american doctor can over there, simply because we see them more of them here than they see them, there.
"rose spots" ? i have seen them only in textbook pictures.
typhoid mary's specialty was (peach) ice cream. salmonella does not get destroyed in cold. but it is destroyed by heating. we can only guess just how limited her spread would have been, had her specialty been cooked food instead.
typhoid mary was confined and warned not to go about her profession as cook.
but she did not listen.
of the 53 infected persons attributed to her, three died.
i guess the lesson of the story is: sometimes, one has to listen to professional advice, even if one does not understand why.

Granular lockdown also has ayuda. Mas mahal pa siguro sa ayuda ng ECQ because they have to feed the whole area everyday during the duration of lockdown. Unlike previous granular kahit apor eh limited na rin galaw. They are also planning to give money subsidies to workers that will be affected by this.
My fear is this granular lockdown isn't going to work, kailangan ng maraming pera, although hati ang LGU and national government sa gastos, not all LGU are mayaman and national government has no more budget.
The massive numbers of typhoid bacteria that were discovered in her stool samples indicated that the infection center was in her gallbladder. Under questioning, Mallon admitted that she almost never washed her hands. This was not unusual at the time; the germ theory of disease still was not fully accepted.[13][25]
