ICYMI: If you’re not yet vaccinated, the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) may just be your chance. The government is now opening vaccinations to the public—regardless of your position on the priority list.

In a previous report, the Department of Health (DOH) is working with local government units (LGUs) in NCR to inoculate more individuals in order to reach herd immunity. Anyone above the age of 18 can now register for vaccination.

DOH is still asking LGUs to prioritize the elderly and those with comorbidities. DOH also wants to remind people that walk-ins will not be entertained and you must pre-register with your LGU in order to get the shot.

Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, also chief of the National Vaccination Operations Center, said they started distributing Pfizer doses. She said hundreds of thousands of AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinovac and Pfizer vaccines would be deployed to NCR by Aug. 9. Cabotaje, in a Viber message, said the full deployment of the four million doses promised to Metro Manila mayors would have to be completed by Aug. 16. | Nolisoli[dot]ph, inquirerdotnet

There's no such thing as required gene sequencing

Pinipili lang which positive samples will be sequenced

the post-er did say, it's just his jaca-jaca.

    the juicier the jaca-jaca,
    the more attractive it is,
even if there is the possibility that there is absolutely no truth to it.

    decades ago,
there was this "morning sickness" pill that was new to the market. for pregnant females who have nausea and vomiting in the mornings.
it was a few years later, that it proved to be an effective teratogen, when the deformed fetuses and embryos and babies started appearing with alarming alarm.
fortunately, according to my old teacher, the drug never reached our shores, that is, officially.
"the task of evaluating the drug fell to this particular local fda person, who was notorious for dis-approving drugs for local use."
    urban legend?
    heh heh heh.

Variants could be named after star constellations when Greek alphabet runs out, says WHO Covid chief

UN health agency fears variants of concern could outnumber the 24 letters of the Greek alphabet, Maria Van Kerkhove tells the Telegraph

New coronavirus variants could be named after star constellations once letters of the Greek alphabet are exhausted, a senior World Health Organization official has suggested.

In an interview with the Telegraph Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO’s technical chief for Covid-19, said the UN health agency was already looking at new names for mutations amid fears there will be more concerning variants than the 24 letters of the Greek alphabet.

That system was introduced in late May and so far 11 mutations have been named: four variants of concern, including delta and beta; four variants of interest, such as eta and lambda; plus epsilon, zeta and theta, thought to be “of interest” but since downgraded.

But as the coronavirus continues to mutate, it is possible there will be more key strains than available letters.

Dr Van Kerkhove said star constellations are the current frontrunner to follow the Greek alphabet, suggesting we could one day see variants known as Aries, Gemini or Orion.

Several alternatives have already been dismissed, including Greek gods and goddesses – partly due to concerns about pronunciation.

    RE: my Novavax theory

ano ito youtube? more views more $$$?

i didn't post that to "attract"

    there's nothing to gain

i follow things a bit too closely kaya di ko maiwasan meron mapansin

Novavax is probably the best sarscov2 vaccine and they have data to prove it but their management has been delaying EUA application (now it's Q4)

They can take market share away from Pfizer and Moderna

i'm not the only one saying there's something fishy going on

Novavax is being held back for some reason

Pfizer has applied for full approval in May

tingin ko mauuna pa ang full approval ng Pfizer vaccine bago ang EUA ng Novavax

they will probably come to the conclusion,
"the hell! let's just stop wasting our resources! the virus will always be ahead of us. let's go back the basics. mask and shield and antisocial behavior!"
"let's channel our money to care-of-the-sick facilities."
