Lockdown is not a permanent solution to this pandemic, alam ng Tao mas lalong alam natin lahat dito.

Ano ba talaga dahilan bakit nag lockdown tayo?

Ngayon with the delta variant, hinde na applicable.

Kung kaya na ng health care system to accommodate the expected surge then don't do a lockdown simple as that.

    So ang tanong kaya ba?

It's like meron konting tulo yun bubong ng bahay mo tapos hinde mo muna pa ayos dahil antayin muna na lumakas at kailangan maglagay ng balde bago gawin eh pero meron alam mo meron parating na bagyo, so pabayaan mo na lang or tapalan mo muna before dumating yun bagyo at least to tide you over then saka mo pagawa ng tama or meron talagang tao ang mentality is bahala na kaya pag dating ng bagyo, malakas ulan, binaha na yun bahay saka magmadali umakyat ng bubong para tapalan habang malakas hangin at ulan, kaya hinde na dumikit pantapal at bumaha na sa loob ng bahay saka mag sisi na sana habang ma araw pa tinapa lan na ng vulcaseal.

Parehas yan ng surge ngayon for Healthcare system.

Eh yun nga sinasabi ng govt before dumami mag lockdown na before ma overwhelm ang System.

    Simple lang diba?

On the other side. Ayusin implementation kasi for me if you're gonna do it haphazardly as with everything then don't do at all na lang.

independent observers have observed that numbers improve, following lockdowns.
    is this raison de etre?

    May iba pa bang choice?

we don't even know if this global vaccination effort will produce the desired outcome

it's already being shown that vaccine can only protect against severity

    it doesn't prevent transmission

in delta-infected people, swabs from the nose of vaccinated and unvaccinated show the same high viral load (pcr ct value in the 20s)

right now the narrative is unvaccinated people are the problem

question: will the bodies of vaccinated people be a practice gym for the virus to develop mutations?

since vaccine can't prevent transmission, will vaccinated people shed more powerful variants?

if yes, then pharma will be on constant catch-up making boosters for ever more powerful variants

similar to what's happening in the war against bacteria where they have to keep making new antibiotics coz older antibiotics are no longer effective

    i don't know

1889-1890, 1918-1920 influenza pandemics went away on their own without vaccine

21st century humans are managing this pandemic differently -- with a lot of intervention (lockdowns, monoclonal antibodies, vaccine, antivirals soon)

what if the interventions are prolonging the pandemic?

Last year pa pinaguusapan ng mga homies ko sa international health forum yan.

May kachat ako nurse ayaw pavaccine.

why ayaw niyan pavaccine? is she worried to be turned into a zombie when she is vaccinated?

100+ years ago there was no genome sequencing

humans didn't have to do this

    now we're chasing "variants"

    walang katapusan ito

the Greek alphabet won't be enough

nasa Delta palang tayo nag lockdown na uli

Question: is technology prolonging this pandemic?

they will not run out of variants to scare us with

    'tis common knowledge,
"science and technology have largely done away with natural selection."
if i hit the "stay natural" button, i might suddenly disappear from this earth.

    the arabic number system.
    it's infinite.

    romans, too.
but it does become cumbersome after a while.

yes, relaxed yung ECQ na ito, i have crossed two cities here in NCR and yet wala pa ako na encounter na check point.
It may just be similar to before that NCR borders is where all the checkpoints and strict implementation are happening.
I did find a lot less cars in EDSA thou still nothing compared to the 1st ECQ in 2020.

human inventions (and interventions) have saved billions of lives that's why there are 7+ billion of us now

we strongly defied nature for the last 100+ years

maybe we have reached peak civilization and what we're experiencing now is nature reasserting itself

a virus that overwhelms the life-prolonging healthcare systems we put up

    to reduce our numbers

    to reduce our life expectancy

U.S. life expectancy fell by a year in the first half of 22, CDC report finds
As the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, life expectancy in the United States dropped one full year during the first half of 2020, according to a new Centers of Disease Control and Prevention report, with even greater declines seen among Black and Hispanic people.
