Personally tingin ko darating astra, there's a reason bakit lahat ng LGU yan ang binili, in fact Manila nag down na 20% or 30% Valenzuela din yata ang makati meron din isang LGU na probinsiya nag down na rin.

Hindi ba pwede bilhin ng Pinas yang unused Astra from Germany? If ako si Lucio Tan, bilhin ko lahat yan, it will significantly help air travel once marami na vaccinated.

Hopefully this will benefit us, as Europe not liking astrazeneca, coz as you say money talks and they have tons to buy Pfizer, you can't blame them for that.

Astrazeneca din ginamit sa UK besides sa Pfizer.

LGUs ordered astrazeneca coz it's the most accessible (low cost, high production volume thanks to SII)

of course UK uses astra/oxford ... kanila yun eh... homegrown vaccine... first choice ng mga tao nila

kaya sabi ko sa earlier post Europe not including UK ayaw sa Astrazeneca coz i know Brits won't reject their homegrown vaccine

    -

and of course Germans and other Europeans can be choosy coz they have easy access to mRNA vaccines

you can be choosy when you're in that position

    -

pero ang Pinas choosy kahit not in a position to be choosy hahaha

Hindi pwede , bawal yun sa agreement nila with the vaccine manufacturer. Nasa terms yun ng agreement with the vaccine makers.
Ang maganda lang dito is that if Germany ordered more Astrazenica vaccine na hindi pa dumadating baka defer nila muna yun which may benefit us na nakapilia for the vaccine.

I'm sure you guys have noticed the USD rising with respect to PHP, but still declining vs the EUR. I read recently that the current currency valuations are likely based on projected economic recovery.

The EU is projected to recover faster then the USA based on their current vaccine plans and COVID protocols. They were in decline because the financial sectors thought Trump was mishandling COVID, and with the new admin their outlook is improving. The PHP OTOH started to decline after the shift to MGCQ was rejected.

I find it super interesting that changes in currency valuations are now essentially an economic scorecard for a country's pandemic-handling.

    wut?

no, Europe will not recover faster than the US

    -

the euro is not exactly strong

    it's the USD that's weak

coz the Fed is expected to stay on hold for years

Jay Powell reiterated recently that the Fed will support the US economy... meaning they won't move anytime soon

that drove the dollar index below 90

    -

yes the peso is weaker than the weak dollar coz foreign funds keep dumping PH assets coz of headwinds to economic recovery (restrictions are holding back recovery)

i think Astrazeneca made an exception with Vietnam -- negotiating with a private company (VNVC)

the company must be really something

Astrazeneca prioritized them over other Asian countries

convert 650 billion dong to USD

28 million dollars yan... or almost 1.4 billion pesos

    siga pala itong VNVC

    walang laban sila Joey Concepcion

The Euro governments are trying to convince their population to take Astrazeneca jabs...

French vaccination drive 'too slow to prevent third wave' | Daily Mail Online

France is now aiming to 'rehabilitate' the AstraZeneca jab after Emmanuel Macron wrongly claimed it was 'quasi-ineffective' in older people.

Macron was challenged by EU leaders over his comments, it emerged today - after Ursula von der Leyen sought to boost support for the jab by saying that she herself would be willing to take it.

Meanwhile a German vaccine chief said that more than a million AstraZeneca doses were lying in storage amid public reluctance to take the jab, despite real-world studies showing it is effective.

'We are working quite hard at this point trying to convince people to accept the vaccine,' Thomas Mertens told BBC Radio 4's Today programme - after his own panel refused to recommend the vaccine for over-65s.

A Berlin official has even called for unused doses to be given to the 3,000 homeless people living in the city's emergency accommodation.

France is also among the countries to have denied the AstraZeneca jab to older people because of the small sample size of over-65s in clinical trial data, while Belgium and Italy have restricted it to over-55s.

A Belgian medical advisor told BBC News that people in the country had nicknamed the jab the 'Aldi vaccine' because it is seen as the low-budget option.

[But real-world data from Scotland has shown the AstraZeneca shot cutting hospital cases by 94 per cent among the mainly elderly people who have had it so far - a higher figure than among those who received the Pfizer jab.

Austria is now set to perform a U-turn by approving the AstraZeneca shot for over-65s, while the French health ministry has admitted that the jab has an 'image deficit' with only around 107,000 doses of it administered so far.
