i kinda agree with you. medyo mahirap din bumili ng camera dyan lalo nasa mayers, watson and avenue. parang talagang hindi i-ho-honor ang warranty mo eh sa itsura ng place nila
pero siguro be discreet na lang in buying like for example Mayer's. there are a lot of good feedbacks about the shop pero turn-off talaga ako bumili, sobrang dami tao lagi eh. pag nagbalik ka ng defective, mala PC Options siguro ma-experience mo
I buy stuff from Henry's. they have a good clean, airconditioned place. para ka din nasa mall.
hmmm mapuntahan nga ang Henry's in the future, lapit lang ba yan sa mayers?
Hmm...not really. May sinamahan akonfg bumuli filters dun last year. Okay naman silang kausap nung sinoli ko yung isang filter kase may kaunting damage yung thread. Maga-antay ka nga lang kase nga marami tao pero based dun sa experience, once nai-explain kong mabuti purpose ko, sandali lang problem solved.
As far as the warranty goes, I think they will honor the distributor warraty. Yung Canon at Nikon na dinadala nila eh may warranty stickers na ng Columbia (for Nikon) at Canon for, well, Canon.
However, baka nga rin minsan eh gaya sila sa PC Options (ayaw ko ng bumili ng gamit dito) where the service sucks at masungit pa tao minsan.
F~ck!! My wife just called, meron nag-iinquire for a wedding photographer. Sa Tagaytay, garden wedding (or reception). They want to see my work.. What work??!! Im just starting, Im only gonna get the camera tom.
Anyway, sa July pa naman yung wedding. Should I take it? Is 2 months enough for me to learn a new camera? I know the technical aspect down phat, Im just not sure Ive nailed the creative aspect..
But its a nice problem.![]()
if i were in your shoes, i'd charge a very cheap fee for my services since starting pa lang at walang portfolio maipapakita..para pwede ka muna maging secondary photographer and watch how the experienced guys do it.
pwede rin maging primary photographer agad BUT paano kung di maganda ang result? at di nila nagustuhan? yari ka nyan..kakasimula pa lang balut ka na agad at sira na pangalan mo...di pa naman pwede ulitin ang kasal :hihihi:
Jeff: To be honest lang, the fact that you don't have a portfolio yet and actual gears to cover the shoot properly, I'd politely decline the job.
Reasons:
1) Experience? Not sa photography skills, but covering weddings from start to finish (pre-wedding preps, wedding itself, reception etc.)
2) Equipment, you really can't cover a wedding by yourself, there's really a lot of preparation involved including backup bodies/lens/flash, scouting the location first, having assistants etc... You can't cover without a backup cam, think of how much moments you'll lose during lens changes.
3) It's a couple's wedding, not a birthday or something that can be replicated if something went wrong.
4) Pricing, it's not something you can decide on unless you have #1, price yourself too low, you'll be sacrificing your reputation in your future project prices, price yourself too high, don't expect future projects soon. Undercutting industry rates doesn't really work well for either party, the photographer will be tagged as a cheap talent, the industry will suffer coz the unexperienced will think that photography service is cheap, and lastly, the customer probably would've preferred spending a little more for a real pro package.
5) Contacts, there's more to wedding photography than shooting the event. Do you already have the knowledge or contacts for layouts, printing, binding, framing, etc?
I'm not being a negative influence, but unlike a studio shoot, portraits, sport event, etc... Wedding shouldn't be handled by the unprepared.
Charge right or don't charge at all...

I agree with theveed...
You may know how to take great photographs but doing weddings is an entirely different thing. I've done a few and I can say it's not as easy as you think.
so far... i've only heard of one person doing weddings solo (back there)... and that's the great EBE... ;)

sa photographer nga namin noon wedding ko, bad-trip na bad trip kami kasi wala kami photo while alighting from the vehicle to the hotel lobby and even to the reception. yun pala kahit tatlo na sila, yun photog din yun driver, na-traffic at nag-park pa daw siya! wtf!
Thanks for the advice people. I guess if I really decide to do it (shoot weddings) I'll really take your advice to heart and think twice,, thrice and four times before doing it.
Syanga pala finally got the K10D. Went on a Saturday, OK na nilabas na yung camera pinakita sa kin, finormat na yung SD card in cam. So Im satisfied naman na BN yung unit so I told them OK, balik ako widraw lang ako ng cash sa ATM.
Nung mag-widraw ako, It suddenly dawned on me na 20K lang yung widraw limit ko for the day, so kulang ako.
Balik ako sa store, I explained the situation to the store clerks. They were understanding naman, told them I cant get it that day and that I'll be back next day to pay them.
So end of story, I had to get back on Sunday, withdraw another 20K to meet the balance, pay them and finally get the camera on my grubby little hands.. Kakahiya.![]()
Through all this the store clerks were very patient with me. I would definitely recommend CameraHaus (SouthMall) to anyone for their next camera purchase.
Shot about 150 pics that day less than half usable. (Im still learning) Pansin ko lang my wrist started to hurt from holding the camera for a long time. Lense (18-55 mm pa lang yun ha) side a bit heavy and since the battery is quite light, the weight is not being offset at the camera grip.
Kit lens, very well made, up in terms of the canon kit 18-55. Colored marks differentiate zoom from focus.
kinyo,
ganda ng petronas, 18-135 yung lens na ginamit?
If you are exhausted on street photog. There is a nice place for pano, flowers, butterflies & birds. Take the road from Sempang Pulai to Cameroon Highlands, i believe its worth the trip.
