Hehe, TMAX400 lang binibili ko lagi dati na B&W, easy to process and looks great on hard, high contrast paper... Used to buy them in bulk para cheaper.

Iba padin impact ng film B&W (colored, hard to decipher for me)...

There's nothing wrong with silicon-based cameras, it's just technology progressing making life easier and better... But at the end of the day, it's still just a tool.

I don't miss film at all due to cost and waiting anxiety reasons, but to land a great shot with film (after getting it developed) is really, really rewarding compared to scrolling images on your monitor...

Bimbim: Actually no, ginawang kabayo ng anak ko yung tripod ko so sira na... The CCP shot was supported by my car's window/door panel (traffic nun sa Roxas), the ferris wheel shot naman sa park bench... Sometimes I wrap the cam with a towel and just lean it against a rock sa floor or something, kaya dami na gasgas P&S ko hehe.

This one naman nakaipit between a rock and my shoe (took it off muna, syempre hehe).

    Libis

    This one handheld lang..

BB: oks yung technique ni 'Veed. You can.."anchor" your camera para hinde umalog during shots in a variety of ways. You can also make an improvised beanbag using an airtight ziploc bag na punuin mo ng grains or something. Not all the time kasi eh you'd bring your tripod. However, with a little improvisation, you can come up with a tool that can help you steady your shots. In fact, you can even make a tripod using a piece of rope, with your legs acting as the support.

Doc: It's not eh (doesn't ring a bell kasi hehe), Diver's Sanctuary ata or something... Unless you're referring to the town/location mismo hehe, sorry ...

Gerard: Naku, Civic or Corolla debate yan...Medyo not useful discussion, magaaway-away lang mga brand loyalists hehe.

    Price: 400D
    Lenses and accessories: Equal
    The rest: Personal preference

I wouldn't worry about the storage medium unless you have already invested a lot in CFs or SDs right now. Besides, magkano lang CF/SD hehe.

As for the Sony, it's really too expensive here, if you check the prices sa US, layo ng presyo.

Consider the K10D if you're considering the Alpha. I'd prefer the K10D's construction actually.

At the end of the day, all these cams are very, very similar, it'll just be a matter of what lenses you already have. If you have none, then just hold and try all of them and follow your heart... I sincerely doubt you'll find significant OBJECTIVE differences between them...

Be a smart shopper, don't believe in owner's praises all the time... It's rare that you find someone who will bash something he has purchased (for a significant amount)... Especially when dealing with fanboys, it's a rather pointless discussion.

I agree. Nahawakan ko na both cams. Although I do admit that I found the Alpha a nice cam (2006 Popular Phototograpy & Imaging Magazine Camera of the Year), mas magada ang build ng K10D. IMO, mas solid ang construction. As far as my personal tastes go, magaang yung Alpha for me - and it has a bit of a plasticky feel.

He he, parang kilala ko tong anti-fanboy na ito na nangungulit sa isang forum ah.

You only live once, go for the D80! Also, if you are anything like me, everytime you go into a camera store after you buy the 400D, you will always be looking at the D80 and saying to yourself, "sayang".

    Do it!

Palusot kasi dyan sasabihin nila no surcharge yung CC purchase, pero may "discount" kung cash.

Nothing your consumer advocacy group can do about logic like that heheh.

me I can be considered a fan boy, I already bought 2 Nikon D40's, and I'm planning to purchase another one by summer. anyways gamit ko naman sa business so I guess it's a wise move.

what I learn creatively on my spare time on tinkering with the D40, aperture/shutter/exposure combo, I will pass onto my "trainee photogs" armed with a D40. what they learn, they pass to me hehehe. they do studio, I do outdoors. I purchase LENs in the future, then I lend it to them.

am not really a photog by profession, but it's a necessity on what I do. so I guess 3 heads (3 entry-level D40's) are better than 1 (1 highend DSLR, 3 times more expensive than a D40).

OB: In your case, you have to stick to a single brand, doesn't make economical sense to hold on to multiple systems when you have multiple DSLRs...
