^^Yep I notice that myself, Windows XP is still more energy efficient...
Didn't notice that on my fatlaptop. Maybe 'coz it doesn't support aero. Now I "upgraded" my 7100 RC to retail on the desktop I'm currently using. I'm currently trying to figure out how to make the loaders work. So far, only the anti-virus and Daemon Tools seem to be the only problems beside the loaders.
like I mentioned, dahil sa Aero yan.

it uses some resources usualy games only use...
*roberto: your loaders must be complicated. the one I used recently is just one click and done. though I like the other loader. I can choose my manufacturer logo and all... though I can use both. hehe...
I recall having some problems installing older games in Windows 7 64-bit. C&C: Generals was one that had a hard time installing. But eventually it did install. Zero Hour kept getting CRC errors even after I copied the cd files to the hard drive and tried to install from there.
Well, there had been a lot of updates (via Windows Update) since. I tried installing Zero Hour again and wouldn't you know, it installed fine. I was also getting the same errors with the demo downloads of ArmA 2 and NFS: Shift before. So I deleted them. Now I wish I didn't.Sigh.
I'd guess one of those updates helped.

The following games wouldn't install properly before. But they installed fine this time and now run ok:
IL-2: Forgotten Battles
Far Cry
Rome: Total War
I guess that was what the last round of fixes was for.

Where can I buy Windows 7 Professional Retail? OEM won't cut it bec. you'd have to choose bet. getting 64 or 32 bit, while retail gives you both in one package.
Basically, If you have more than 3GB of RAM, then the 64 bit OS will recognize them and will be able to use them more efficiently. This is unlike the 32 bit. Btw, Win 7 will be the last Microsoft OS that will be made available in 32 bit. Succeeding OS will be in 64 bit only.
just upgraded my gf's laptop, hp notebook 520, intel core duo 1.6ghz, 2gb ram, from vista ultimate to W7 ultimate, W7 freed up 7gb of HD space. it really is faster.
I have also installed Windows 7 64 on my new desktop. After been using Windows XP for almost 8 years now, the UI is still pretty foreign to me. I skipped Vista altogether and this is my first switch since late 2001. It might say its activated, but trust me its a downloaded version!Paktay na nga lang pag nagkaroon na ng SP2 itong Windows 7...

Was surprised how fast it installed on an Asus K40IN (c2d 2.2/2gb). A little over 15 minutes lang ata. Basta wala pang 20mins (I was able to track the start time because I had set the BIOS time before setup). I just went down to grab a bottle of water tapos pagbalik ko tapos na agad.
Anyway, para lang syang vista. I'm thinking of installing OSX (not sure yet kung compatible ang components).

I guess this is pretty much the finalized look of Windows 7 for me. I still think the Taskbar isn't as functional as in previous versions of Windows. But, this'll work.

my tv tuner, winfast 2000xp cannot run in windows 7. tried to google for a fix but to no avail. I have to boot in xp if i want to use it. still searching for answer to this driver problem.
I beg to disagree Jun. I think the new taskbar is way more efficient than in XP. Sa XP if you open up a lot of Windows its hard to re-organize and becomes a clatter. Apparently 7 took a lot of cues from OSX in terms of window management...
for me, I'd hope the taskbar uses text like xp and arrangable like windows7.
I think both are not better than each other. though nasanay na ako sa windows7 sa icons. but if you have new programs running, it will be confusing at first... worst if the icons keep changing per versions.
