Let's think it through: if the PH government does lend support to the sultan, that's like declaring war on Malaysia -- country vs. country. Damay lahat ng PH -- you, me, your family. What if Malaysia invades Mindanao -- nay, Manila? What if everything really goes wrong, and we're forced to draft Pinoys into this war? Are you willing to go and fight? Are you willing to offer your sons, maybe even daughters, for the sultan's "cause" ?

Typical na filipino tactic naman kasi masyado yung ginagawa ng mga kirams e, Pupunta ka dun to assert your claim through aa armed conflict , then you expect to ask for a ceasefire in the middle of the fight since you are already losing the battle? And expect for the sympathy of the world?

In my opinion , a good head of state is not just deciding for the benefit for a few people , rather making a difficult decision for the whole nation .

    Just my 2 cents
If its a legitimate claim, whether they drag the country to war, my point is at least they have the guts to fight for it.. Unlike the gov't who has done nothing to pursue what should be ours... The next thing you know, the whole country's taken over by another race... Phils is bullied because we are weak to defend ourselves and even weaker letting it happen.

If I were in the President's position, Pinoy pa rin yang mga yan. An act should be done to protect them and avoid all-out war with Malaysia at the same time.. Kirams wants to talk and if Malaysia doesn't honor that, who is there to mediate? US? China? UN? Eh anu pa pakialam nila dun... Its just the same thing China is doing to us.. we want to be heard yet the other party has deaf ears.. so what do you do? Let it pass for how many more decades or even century?

That's my point, armed militia can survive Malaysia's army attacks. eh dyan sila nagtraining eh.. probably the guns they now used were even donated by Malaysia..

Then again, my views don't mean a thing to anybody else. I do not move to change your minds.. I just hope the war doesn't reach our shores and each one of us would say, it's already to late... kasi like oliver said.. hati tayo ng opinyon pero walang may gusto ng gyera.. pero pano kung nandyan na mismo sa labas ng bahay mo, nadamay na pamilya mo, tingin nyo ba may pipiliin pa mga yan.. none of us have lived the era of war that's maybe the reason why no one's willing to stand up for his country.

Anyway, what's happening to Malaysia now is their biggest KARMA. Let the Kiram pursue their claim. as a matter of fact all they want is international attention which the Philippine Government couldn't give.

ok...sabihin na natin that we can get all 20+ million Malaysians and 90+ million Filipinos in an arena, no weapons, good old fashioned rumble. The question still stands: are you willing to sacrifice yourself and your family for the sultan, for a piece of rock that you can't even claim as part of your country?

No offense meant po sir, you are entitled to your own views...i'm just not convinced this is a fight worth fighting for, considering our current capabilities, the people involved, what's at stake, and the collateral damage ;)

I'm going to fight for my family and loved ones but not for one or several people's, whom I don't even know, interest. Why declare war when you know your country might not even stand a chance

Tsaka wala naman makukuha Pinas kapag lumaban sila for Sabbah. Pyrrhic victory yan if ever manalo, di sulit.

Go! Our soldiers would be better off fighting & dying for the whole interest of the PH, not just for one family's benefit.

What Karma are you talking about?

Malaysia reaps billions and billions from the oil and timber resources in Sabah.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the sultan of Sulu eventually somehow "transfer" its claim in favor of the Philippine government during Macapagal's presidency.

Malaysia denies paying rent for Sabah: report

    ABS-CBNnews.com
    Posted at 03/08/2013 12:02 PM | Updated as of 03/08/2013 5:58 PM

MANILA - Malaysia's payment of nearly P70,000 to the sultanate of Sulu yearly is not for the rental of Sabah but cession money for the handover of the territory, a report from the New Straits Times said Friday.

Malaysian Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said the Malaysian government does not recognize any outside claims that Sabah does not belong to Malaysia.

He told Malaysia's TV3 that the 1878 agreement between Alfred Dent and Baron von Overbeck of the British North Borneo Company and the sultan of Sulu at that time stated that the sultan of Sulu ceded the region of North Borneo permanently, and the heir is entitled to receive annual payment of 5,300 Mexican Pesos.

"It is not payment for rent, but as cession," he said.

The report said Anifah and Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario were also puzzled why the Sabah standoff occurred when both countries are facing elections.

The Malaysian foreign minister quoted a Reuters report that said followers of Jamalul Kiram III "had been invited to Sabah by a Malaysian opposition politician to discuss land issues."

Anifah said he had urged del Rosario to investigate the claim.

"Maybe there are certain parties that do not want Malaysia or the leadership of the Malaysian government to be recognised.

"It is not impossible that there are people who are spiteful of the Barisan Nasional leadership led by our prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, which has excelled and gained recognition internationally."

Philippine President Aquino earlier said there are signs that a conspiracy was behind the decision of Kiram's followers to press their claim on Sabah. He declined to name the alleged conspirators, saying he needed more evidence.

The Malaysian official, meanwhile, said Kiram's men were labeled terrorists because they entered the country illegally armed with weapons and engaged Malaysian security forces.

"They have no respect for our authorities and human rights. This is a terrorist act. Even with numerous discussions and dialogue sessions with the Philippine foreign affairs secretary, what has happened cannot be forgiven.

"However, both del Rosario and I agree that we will continue discussing the best possible way to resolve this matter without further bloodshed," he said,

Meanwhile, a report on the Star Online said Malaysian opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has filed a RM100mil defamation suit against TV3 and Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd for linking him to the intrusion by an armed Sulu group in Lahad Datu.

The suit was filed at the KL High Court civil registry Friday, naming Utusan and TV3 as defendants.

Anwar has denied meeting Jamalul Kiram III, the self-proclaimed Sultan of Sulu, or having any involvement in the attacks in Sabah.

    (Pilipino Star Ngayon) | Updated March 8, 2013 - 1:09pm

"We met with sultan Jamalul Kiram, spokesman Abraham Idijarani and [Jamalul's daughter] Jacel Kiram. And when it was her time to speak, she said they have no plans of reclaiming Sabah. She said it would be better if the Malaysian government meets with them to discuss Sabah and propriety rights. She added that it is unacceptable that they are only being paid 5,300 (about P70,000) ringgits for Sabah, when that amount could not even rent an apartment," kuwento ni Hataman.

PSN ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch:
