Pandemic knocks off P12 billion from Jollibee in H1 22

The P10.2-billion net loss in the 2nd quarter alone included the cost of P7 billion for the business transformation program.

"The spending for business transformation includes closure of 255 company-owned stores, change in ownership of 95 stores from company to franchisees, payment of pre-termination penalties of stores in the US and China, closure of supply chain facilities, and reduction in the size of the organization in various countries where we do business," said Jollibee chief financial officer Ysmael Baysa.

    yan ang di expected

so nag sell off tapos nag bargain hunting

High unemployment, little consumer spending, high rate of store closure, companies holding off investment because of lack of business activity... if these last more than months, it becomes a depression...

It means dutiti govt doesn't own up their mistakes and responsibility.

Lagi sinasabi eh hinde lang tayo ang ganyan buong mundo which is correct pero it's time to lay down their plans for recovery. Kaso puro buong mundo ya ayon kahit mayaman na country.

    Deflecting the issue.

Crush just told me that they had to let go of an entire DEPARTMENT. Wow, so nauna lang pala company namin. It's a tough job to deliver the news pero samin ganyan din the head of our division ang nakikipag usap sa employees.

My BFF who was an expat returned to Manila last week and she told me that she is also nanganganib of losing her job. Why? Because before the china virus, our company had a natural 10% attrition rate, but now NOBODY is resigning (except me LOL) so now they have to let go of 10% of employees.

I wonder how many more job cuts in the following months

Their GDP drop in not as bad as the PH... considering their covid response was even slower and later than the PH
