JAPAN-BASED Rating and Investment Information, Inc. (R&I) upgraded the Philippines’ investment grade rating to “A-” amid the country’s strong economic performance.

“Based on macroeconomic stability and high economic growth path as well as expected continuous improvement in fiscal balance, R&I has upgraded the Foreign Currency Issuer Rating to ‘A-,’” it said in a document posted on its website.

This was one notch up from the country’s previous rating of “BBB+” assigned in August a year ago.

The credit rater also assigned a “stable” outlook for the Philippines from “positive” previously. According to R&I, a positive or negative outlook is not a statement indicating a future change of a rating. If neither a positive nor negative outlook is appropriate, it assigns a stable outlook.

I wonder where this 4000 acre (1619 hectares) site they're talking about will be situated in a crowded Luzon. Will it be in Northern or southern part of the island? Pwede din sa central part of Luzon pero I doubt it.

That's a significant chunk of real estate that's going to be ear marked for development. It's going to need lots of consistent power too.

Tapos in Mindanao the govt is building military facilities in the cdo and Davao regions. Like it or not , That's going to spur economic activities over there. Sad to say, na overlook nanaman Probinsya Namin.

    Looks like Northern Luzon.

    Just a moment...

"SAN ANTONIO, Zambales, Philippines — A farmers’ group on Sunday criticized the government for backing a proposed 1,619-hectare (4,000 acres) economic security zone under the Luzon Economic Corridor, saying the US-initiated project could intensify land grabbing, resource extraction, and militarization in rural areas."
