    in my opinion,
    that was a mistake.
and the guy who made the mistake, refuses to admit it, and is passing it off as "something beyond their control".
i mean, bukbok is easy to detect. one but has to inspect the product.

    it is also possible,
someone might have purchased low-grade, bukbok rice, and is passing it off as "of the rice quality agreed upon".

naturally coz investors will now demand higher interest rate from the govt to compensate for higher inflation

all previously issued bonds with lower interest rates fall in price

who wants to hold bonds that pay lower interest?

    Gov't borrowing cost going up

my feeling is, if the farmer is treated well, there will be more farmers and we wouldn't be in this self-generated state of rice-lessness.

instead of importing and making the importer richer, we should be buying rice at higher price, from our own farmers.
make it profitable for farmers, to be... farmers!
otherwise, all we will have, are subdivisions and malls.
    here's the thing

consumers want very low-priced rice which only the NFA can provide

like P27 per kilo or something which is in reality below real market price

in order to sell at a price that low, the NFA has to keep its buying price low right?

if they wanna help farmers they should buy at a higher price but the selling price should be higher din

    but consumers will complain naman

if NFA maintains the low selling price but buys at a price that make farmers happy the NFA must absorb significant losses (which means we taxpayers are the loss takers)

well i think yan naman talaga ang function ng NFA

use taxpayer money to provide rice at below market price

so now the govt is scrambling to address the inflation issue specially the RICE factor

    so mag iimport sila

awful timing coz now USDPHP is 53.9

so that imported rice is will cost more in peso terms

and of course using precious $$$ at a time when you want to keep dollar reserves high to fend off speculative attack
