Tugade to formalize Manila-Clark train plan in 90 days
Tugade to formalize Manila-Clark train plan in 9 days

This is in relation to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade's request to airlines to transfer smaller turbo propeller planes to Clark airport

MANILA, Philippines – With the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) bursting at the seams, the transportation chief targets to finalize in 90 days his department's plans to build a standard train that will connect passengers from Manila to Clark International Airport.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Tuesday night, July 19, publicly asked for airlines' cooperation to transfer smaller turbo propeller planes to Clark airport.

To make this viable, Tugade said his department will provide connectivity using a standard train or a connector road. (READ: Frustration, anger over NAIA runway closure)

"Clark will be reachable either by road or by train. By road, we have to recognize [Metro Manila] Skyway [Stage] 3 and the Connector Road because that will bring you somewhere in Bulacan, so it gives connectivity," Tugade said during the networking event organized by World Trade Center Manila in Pasay City.

The Duterte administration’s plan to jack up infrastructure spending to up to 7 percent of the economy by 2022 would bring about a “golden age of infrastructure” in the next six years, Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno said Wednesday.

Diokno nonetheless told reporters that despite the planned spending boost, it may take a decade before the infrastructure gap in the country would be totally addressed.

The Budget chief was also pitching more “hybrid” public-private partnership (PPP) projects to speed up infrastructure development.

In a speech at the general membership meeting of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (Finex), Diokno said the government will spend close to P900 billion on hard public infrastructure next year to make up for years of “neglect.”

Funny thing with the tards is that they keep quoting news articles from sources their idol himself banned from the palace and called bias. I guess whatever fits their keyboard warriors' whims as long as it fits the agenda - spread the lies.

In the business community, as well as in the business academe, there were a lot of heads shaking with RJ’s appointment. After all, RJ does not have a stellar reputation as a business manager. He inherited a family corporation and lost it all plus more. One comment I heard: RJ should stick to retro jam sessions for senior citizens.

VIP suspects | Opinion, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com

So what happened? Peter Lim didn’t land at the NAIA; he had been hiding in plain sight. In fact according to some reports, Peter Lim – the guy in the rogues’ gallery, the same guy who turned up at 11 p.m. last Friday at the PDEA regional office in Davao – and his brother Wellington Lim were campaign supporters of Duterte in the presidential race.

Peter Lim was allegedly at Duterte’s victory party in Cebu, where the presence of an epal suspected to have links with smugglers and drug dealers also raised eyebrows. You can’t fault Duterte for this; candidates generally don’t choose supporters, and a winner does not screen guests to a victory party he did not organize.

But it’s obvious that Peter Lim is a well-connected VIP who can secure a meeting with an extremely busy President. Maybe Lim isn’t Jaguar? If he is, Duterte should take a close look at whoever was Lim’s padrino in securing that audience.

As some journalists commented, “Mabuti pa yung drug trafficker, hinaharap; yung media, banned forever.”

What do you expect? We suck up to your fanaticism? You continue posting what makes you happy and we continue to point out the inconsistencies. That is normal in a healthy forum. Fair enough?

The Peter Lim issue rubs me wrong in all kinds of ways.

Not because he fraternized with Duterte... no. I think it is idiotic to believe that simply having your picture taken with a famous politician at a party or function or simply when you pay a courtesy call to their office means that you are best friends with them... it's sickening when the idiots on Facebook do it with hoax videos of De Lima, and it's still stupid when they do it with Duterte.

If you're in cahoots, you're in cahoots... Panelo and GMA... hello? If you're not... a picture doesn't prove anything.

What rubs me wrong is the President's advice to submit to investigation to clear his name. Tragis. Isn't it the GOVERNMENT THAT SHOULD PROVE HIS GUILT? He's already hurdled one probe. If they have evidence, CHARGE him. Don't just out him. This is the same freaking BS that Kim Henares has been pulling at the BIR... name and shame. Innuendo over investigation. Guilt by allegation.

Someone wake me up when Kafka stops writing the scripts, please.

People are cheering regarding the 63,000 surrenderees. Question: How many of them are really pushers and addicts? Suspects are just that, suspects. Any confession achieved by coercion, threat of force or death or intimidation can be thrown out in court. I'm waiting to see what the legal backlash is for all of this, or if any rights groups or legal groups take the battle back to the PNP. This drug drive may be cleaning up the streets (for now), but at what cost?

    -

Also: Aguilar at the NCCA. Sorry, Mister President, that's an elected position. Next!

    -

Last: The Paris Accord. Let's get this straight: Duterte promised to honor all international agreements. Then he turns around and says the Paris Accords are stupid. Bravo. (But given how erratic he has always been, is anyone surprised?)

The complaints he makes about the Accord has some merit, but he is honor bound to honor them. And some of his issues about the costs to development have already been addressed, as Developed nations have pledged funding for the developing world for renewable power.

And his number one super-idol China-forever President Xi Jinping is super bullish about renewables. China is the biggest installer of renewable power in the world.

It's one industrial sector where Asia already surpasses the West, and the Philippines is a hotbed of green investment right now. Hello? He said he wanted to renew industry? Well, there's an industrial sector that we can invest in in which we can export straight to the west RIGHT NOW. Why build cars when the market is saturated? Why make steel when steel prices suck due to oversupply? Why not build stuff that foreign governments will force companies to buy?

    Susmaryosep.

    ----

Eh, baka sabihin niyo Yellowtard ako, oh, eto:

    Positives:

    1. Good for Tugade on the airport situation. I already like him 100% more than his predecessor.

    2. Gina Lopez is like a rabid attack dog. I still think she's a bit fanatical, but if she's sticking to the letter of the law and closing firms for falling afoul of existing regulations, GOOD. Keep going.

    3. FINALLY, Bato makes an official statement on extrajudicial killings. I doubt they'll stop. He should make a pronouncement on SOP and submit cops tasked with the arrests for retraining.

    4. Yasay seems to be taking a tougher stance on the Chinese negotiations. Let's see where that goes.

    5. Arroyo out of jail. Yes. That's a positive. Let's be honest. We all know or suspect she (or at least her husband) is guilty as sin... of something... but if you have no proof and keep filing cases one after the other in order to keep her in reclusion perpetua, that's a damn foul.

Of course, it's not Duterte who let her out. It's the Supreme Court. And Aquino's precious appointees voted 50:50 on it... showing how poor a hand the government had with that PCSO case. Either way, an injustice has been corrected. What remains to be seen is if the anomalies listed by the COA will result in any future cases against past presidents... this will be a true test of what this administration is about.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
