When you are the President of the Republic of the Philippines...AND

You ride commercial flights, that's your choice.
You line up for food in the buffet, that's your choice.
You ride cheap cars, that's your choice.

There is nothing spectacular about that.
If you want to compromise security, that's your choice.
So please, stop harping hacking **** like it's something to be proud of.

Regarding the pics where the two were wearing barongs: it's possible that Duterete had his left hand in his pants pocket, which are black, plus you have the shade caused by the lighting.

Regardless though, the whole fiasco is not good for Duterte:

    - assuming that that Peter Lim *is* a drug lord, he(Peter Lim) just marched into Duterte's territory, unarmed, and he still managed to walk out unscathed. So what happened to his threat about killing him the moment he lands on NAIA(the intel seems to be wrong about that btw)? Did he even arrest him? Most damning, at one point Duterte himself said on camera that he is *not* the Peter Lim he was referring to.

    - assuming that that Peter Lim is *not* a drug lord, he just accused an innocent man of being a drug lord on TV. Nobody is going to do business with him any more for fear getting involved with the drug case, or even worse, madamay sa summary execution.

Sana di na maulit ito sa panahon ni Pangulong Duterte. Nakakahiya nakakapangilabot. Paano kaya nakakatulog sa gabi ang mga ito habang ginugutom ang mga magsasaka.

Sin of the past admin? Pinol uncovers P1M worth of farm equipment rusting inside DA compound | Kicker Daily News

DA Secretary uncovered P100M worth of farm equipment rusting inside gov’t compound
They were left there after the farmers could not afford to pay 15 percent of the price
He has ordered the equipment to be fixed and given to the farmers
Piñol said he will also look into whether past DA officials will be held liable

MANILA, Philippines – Department of Agriculture Manny Piñol could barely hide his disgust as he blasted officials of the past administration for letting P100 million worth of modern farm equipment go to waste.

On his Facebook, Piñol said he discovered the equipment rusting away inside the department’s compound in Tupi, South Cotabato after conducting a tour on Monday, July 18, 2016. According to him, the machines were bought by the government 1-4 years ago but had never been used once.

“I felt my knees weakened as I toured the huge compound filled with agricultural equipment asking regional DA officials why the farm machineries have not been distributed to the farmers or farmers groups,” he wrote.

Tugade takes it like a man, apologizes to Duterte over NAIA runway booboo - Politiko

Instead of blaming the past administration, Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Art Tugade took full responsibility of the damaged main runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Tugade also profusely apologized to President Rodrigo Duterte in what might be the first facepalm incident of the new administration.

“Humihingi ako ng dispensa sa bayan sapagkat nabahiran nanaman ang imahe natin dahil sa pangyayaring ito,” he told reporters in an interview Tuesday, July 19.

He owned up to and apologized for the NAIA runway thing, even though he's been on the job for less than a month; he's got my respect.

afaik, Duterte's jetski promise didn't hinge on us winning the ruling(if anything, he was lukewarm to the idea right from the start -- credit should go to P-Noy and Albert del Rosario ). He said something to the effect that if and when we win the ruling, and the Chinese still won't leave. that he will ride a jetski to the area and plant the PH flag. We can check the earlier debates if we want.

Well, we won, and they're still there. The ball is on Duterte's court imho.

Now, people may argue that Duterte was just joking or exaggerating -- fine. But following the same argument, they shouldn't expect P-Noy to commit LRT harakiri too. imho both are guilty of saying dumb sh_t.

And this is what may happen when you don't have a clear, long-term program in plan; a plan that will address the one of the root causes.

Without gov’t aid, drug pushers back in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Philippines—Saying they have not received any assistance from the government, some confessed drug pushers who had surrendered to authorities recently have returned to their illegal activities, sources said.

“I know of at least two associates who have returned to selling drugs. I can’t blame them. After we surrendered, we were just left on our own,” said a pusher who used to operate in a middle-class neighborhood on the city’s outskirts.

When asked about the sources of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) being sold again in the streets, another source said: “There’s no fresh supply. The stuff was part of [our] leftover stock.”

“Most drug pushers were jobless. They have to feed their families and drug pushing is the only means available for them,” the source said.

A “hit,” or a granule of shabu enough for one user, is now sold for P300 to P500 due to the scarce supply following the intensified government campaign against the illegal drug trade, the sources said. It used to cost only P100, they added.

The crackdown on illegal drugs started even before President Duterte was sworn into office on June 30, with thousands of drug users and pushers around the country, most of them poor and small-time dealers, surrendering to the police.

Mr. Duterte, during the election campaign, had promised to rid the country of illegal drugs, warning traffickers to stop or risk being killed.

The Inquirer sources, however, said they had no plans of returning to the drug trade.

“My father already forgave me. We’re now under his temporary care. He will help me get back to my former job to support my family,” one of them said.

They called on the government to help pushers and users who have chosen to surface.

“If no help would come their way, the antidrug war of President Duterte would just all go to waste. Once the campaign dies down and a fresh supply of shabu comes in, most pushers would be back in business if there’s no other alternative [livelihood] for them,” one of them said.

Supt. Dennis de Leon, Lucena police chief, confirmed the report that some pushers who surrendered to the police recently had gone back to selling shabu. “But they were only a few. We will [seek them out],” De Leon said.

Mayor Roderick Alcala appealed to the private sector to support the city government’s rehabilitation program by also providing jobs to former drug pushers.

“The city government can only do so much. They need jobs to feed their families. Let us all help our townmates who want to reform,” Alcala said.

From July 1 to 17, at least 443 drug pushers and 4,470 users from different towns and cities in Quezon surrendered to the police, records of the provincial police showed.

Supt. Giovannie Caliao, head of Quezon police’s anti-illegal drugs special operations group, said 86 suspected traffickers had been arrested during the same period and 109 grams of shabu had been seized.

Mayor Osmena of Cebu City is very disappointed with the reassignment of his trusted police officers when they are making huge progress in curbing illegal drugs and catching the big fish. And the typical tard comment on his FB page? "Bakit ayaw mo mayor sa decision ni Bato, takot ka bang may ma-discover tungkol sa yo?"
